The money will probably go to pay the rent at the Expo Center for the evening.
Honestly, I wouldn't have it there. It is a great place to play and watch a game, but their are a lot of great high school gyms in EKY and SWV that you could use dirt cheap. People who want to come and see the game wouldn't pay near the price of admission that would be charged in the Expo Center either.
Having the game somewhere other than the Expo Center is the only way to make sure the game continues and doesn't bankrupt the organizers or sponsors.
Good idea, but from a financial persepective this could be a one and done deal.

I agree. I think the organizers are hoping that by using the Expo Center, it will attract a larger crowd, when in all honesty, they should play the game at Pikeville High or Prestonsburg High because like others have said, this will not be a big draw and they could save some money in the process.
I don't know of any players or coaches involved. I was just sent the press release on the game itself.

If there is any $ left after expenses, it goes to scholarships. Organizers are DONATING TIME and get nothing from it. IT IS A CHARITY EVENT.......THERE ARE STILL A FEW PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT DONATE THEIR TIME AND DO THINGS FOR CHARITY, NOT TO MAKE MONEY!

Expo Manager Steve St. John organized the committe. The expo is donating a ton just to have it played there in hopes of having more events there.

Did they have a decent crowd?
06-17-2007, 03:15 AM
Not as great of a crowd as they had hoped. But hopefully this thing will grow. Im telling you it was some great ball to watch with a lot of talent. Both teams played well and shared the ball well and really got after it for a all star game.
06-17-2007, 07:10 PM

I'll second that. Hicks was a great player at the high school level and Pikeville got a steal in getting him. He was always fun to watch in high school and it is great to see these east ky kids do well against out of state competition.
