How can an organization not allow hold backs to wrestle? According to the email below that is from Pat Lee the KYSWA it was voted in?
In order to be eligible to wrestle in our league, here's the rules that apply:
1) Must not have repeated a grade
2) Must not turn 15 on or before August 1st of the current year. So for
this year, anyone who turned 15 on or before 8/1/2006 would be
ineligible.
In order to enforce this better...this year at regionals all teams will be required to submit their team roster including their current grade. (not grades or GPA)
Pat, I have a question about age eligibility of a wrestler, what is the rule?
Thanks,
Pat
My question:
Ok, this rule could only hurt Kentucky and will destroy us at Nationals. Also this is not published on the website, only the age? Who should contact about an exception or legalities. This is the only sport in the state that a hold back can not participate in.
This is the justification from Pat Lee:
Morrison, this rule was voted on and passed at the May coach's meeting
of 2005. A few coaches appealed this and wanted a recount...etc.
What we (the officers & organization) agreed to do was to revote on this.
The revote came down to a tie. The issue was then passed to the officers, we voted on it and approved the rule. I will forward you the email covering this.
Your son is eligibile to wrestle in any tournaments or duals that you
guys want to attend (per the tournament director) with the exception
of the events that we sponsor. State Duals, Regionals, & State.
Sorry,
Pat
FROM ME: Their solution was on an honor basis, the old dont ask dont tell? So I guess we should all just lie?
