This is just one example but I’d love to be in a crowd like this again Friday night. Games like this were special. The players deserve it. Ashland 2019 is the last what I would call big time crowd for a playoff game at Belfry I can remember. This is going to be a good game. It will not be a first half running clock. Get out and support this team. I think they are the best team we’ve had in a few years and with a win you probably get Lloyd Memorial at home next week and I think all Belfry fans know what happened and what that game meant last time we played them.
This is the best atmosphere at Haywood Stadium since it opened in 2005.  What a game that was.  We need to re create that on Friday night for sure.  A 100 yard tunnel is planned and it is gonna be a wild night on Pond Creek.
Gotta throw the semi-final against Corbin in 2015 in there too. 120 yard tunnel, 2-3 deep on the fences. Place was electric

Rock has Belfry's attention and Respect...no doubt.   Coming in with only one blemish on their record, regardless of who you play is quite an accomplishment.
There has been alot said about this one, and it's only Tuesday. Smile

Belfry just released their 100 Years of Belfry Football Video on Youtube.   If you get an opportunity...go out and watch it.  Very well done.   Any small town football program can relate to the relationship between the program and the community.

I don't remember the 2015 crowd against Corbin being that special.  The game was all Belfry 42-14.  Now the next year at Corbin was pretty legendary!!!

My son was a junior, and the starting left tackle on that Somerset team. That was a great atmosphere and a heck of a game.  I felt like we let one get away that night, and I do think the home field, and fans were a difference. Our guys weren't intimidated, they had played in some tough environments, including beating Breathitt County on the riverbank the week before. But Belfry's kids seemed to thrive off of the crowd. Our best wide receiver, Storm Wilson, had to have his appendix removed in Tuesday or Wednesday of the game week.  He played anyway, but wasn't at 100%.  That hurt as well.  If Belfry can get anywhere close to that atmosphere Friday, it will be a tall task for Rockcastle to hang with the Pirates.

I’ve always wanted to get the opinion of a Somerset player or parent who was there that night on their experience. This is one of those few games you just never forget.

Just noticed Rockcastle has 2 1000 yard rushers this season. Can’t imagine many times have 2 of them. This matchup will
Be one of the best in the state this week

Except for not getting out of there with the win, it was a great atmosphere, and a lot of fun.  Belfry's fans were loud, but treated us very well, before, during and after the game.  The only high school game that I've been to, that could top that level of noise and intensity, was when Somerset beat Corbin 7-6 at Somerset in 1983.  That was back when they were district rivals, and only one team from each district made the playoffs. Corbin was ranked number 1, and Somerset was ranked number 2.  Both teams were top 10 overall teams in the state.  Somerset's 7000 seat Clark Field was packed, with most of the track around the field stacked to as well.  It was probably louder just due to the sheer number of people there.

I've seen Bobby's video that rock was bringing busses. I've not heard or seen anything of us doing that. But I hope rock nation shows up. Belfry is top notch football environment. Our men will need you.

Rockastle is about to take one on the chin Friday night at the hand of the Pirates. Rockcastle passing game will have to turn it up about 100 notches if Rockcastle is going to win this game. Being a one dimensional running team usually doesn’t bode well when you have to ride a bus all the way to far eastern KY to match up against a team that has been ground and pounding for decades like Belfry and Johnson Central.

Rock defense will absolutely keep them in this game and allow them to have the chance to beat Belfry. While we all know Belfry is the favorite in this game and it’s a road game for Rock with the fan support it should help Rock players to not feel like everyone is against them. Rock has two players with over 1000 rushing yards each. Defense has 47 sacks and leads all classes in the state in that category. If Rock can get in the back field and put pressure on the QB I like Rock chances to win this game and advance to third round for second straight year. This game I believe will shock a lot of people after it’s over tomorrow night! Let’s go Rock!

Rock's schedule doesn't have them ready to come to Belfry. Pirates 35-14.

it’s not always about your schedule what good is playing a tough schedule if it just depletes your roster and leaves you with less players? Maybe if your a 5A or 6A team or have a roster with 70+ players but when you only play 12-15 players and you loose 2-4 or more your season is over and then what good is it? We will see tomorrow and prove that anything can happen

Competition goes along with every sport... depleting rosters have nothing to do with state titles.
I've seen it too many times in a whole handful of sports. You play weak teams, that what your used to playing, you play hard teams, that's what your use to playing! I personally would rather bet on a team that's 3-5 against the best teams in the state, oppose to a team that's 11-0 against half stacked teams, while only playing 1 actual game against a team that has a pulse.
Almost 13 hours and you might see what stiff competition gets you come playoff time! When it's 2 teams that match up very well!

Belfry is about to show them what’s up. Some are acting like this is a big game but this is not really a close matchup. Belfry is 2-3 TDs better.

It cracks me up that Rockcastle gets offended about people saying their success has came because of scheduling weak . When they have the game which they try and prove a point about their toughness they choose to take a charter bus for the 2 and half hour trip LOL
#52
For the record, if the Belfry defense that showed up against Letcher Central is what takes the field then Rock may very well win this game.

If Belfry locks in and plays hard nose defense like they played against Pikeville and Lawrence County I don't think Rockcastle can stop them enough. If Belfry's defense reverts back to questionable tendencies, bad tackling, and bad pursuit then 100% Rockcastle can come to Belfry and win this.

Level of competition in the regular season is a massive factor for playoff preparation. What good is a 10 win season if you’re going home in the second round?

BHS has not chartered since the '90s and we know the long trips they have been on including 7 straight trips to Bowling Green.  There is blue collar and then faux blue collar.  Go figure!!

Lmao we have never in our entire existence taken a charter bus including trips to Louisville in state championship games however we had the money and the players wanted something different so they got it just get over your weak comments like riding a charter bus is such a weak thing you all are about to find out tonight see you at Pond Creek

I think Letcher Central's game plan, improved performance and good athletes caught Belfry by surprise. I don't think they will be surprised in this game. They should know what to expect, which is a good game..

I don't think Belfry closes out with a loss at home playing for a legendary coach on the 100th year of their program.
They're gonna come out fired up like they've been snacking all week on gunpowder.

Rockcastle will have to play near perfect in this game like playing at Bell County in 2023 if they want to win.

It cracks me up too!! Rockcastle has literally played 1 team that had a chance this year to make noise and they lost at that!! Bell county is down from last year and Belfry is up!! If HH is starting on belfry defense, give me belfry 35 rockcastle 14

HH is definitely a difference maker for the Pirates.   I've neither heard nor seen any updates on his status....so I guess we'll have to wait till tonight and find out.
