If this was on a neutral field Ashland would running clock midway through the 3rd, but because it is at Raceland, give me the Tomcats 28-26. (Yes, that is giving Raceland a 27 point advantage from home to away).

That’s a pretty big swing lol.  This year I don’t think it matters where this game is played Ashland is going to be the better team and should run away with it.

Yeah….ol boy must have a ton of respect for the Rams cause I don’t think we will score 27 points combined in our first two games haha

This is a season where burning bridges with local teams that were more competitive games will come to bite the Rams. The first month of the season is going to be a test of survival for the Rams. This week will be a tall challenge, next week gets a little easier with Letcher but is still a game that could be lost, then you have Pikeville which could be a running clock, and top it off with Highlands which will be an absolute slaughter.

After that first month it still isn’t necessarily easy with NCC and Hazard and those aren’t exactly guaranteed wins. As for this week Raceland might keep it somewhat close early playing with emotion but ultimately I see this being at least a 3 score loss.

No not really. We would’ve beaten Russell,Greenup, both Carter schools and Boyd this year as well. If Raceland ever wants to get over the hump they need to stay away from local teams and keep a schedule that’s gonna challenge them every year. We didn’t burn any bridges with local schools…they chose to run and hide when they couldn’t beat us.

Very curious to see what crew of officials gets assigned this game.

Raceland was penalized more last week at home against burg than any other Raceland team I can recall at least in recent memory. That’s one thing that I expect to hurt us at times as it comes with maturity. I’ve gotten more hell than almost anyone that isn’t RamDad when it comes to picking with my head and not my heart and at times leads me to pick against my Rams. I don’t see this being a game that Raceland SHOULD win. But it’s not a game that we should get the hell beaten out of us. I really see this as a close game with a chance to win it. That’s taking my heart of out it. Unless Huntington is a state championship contender in WV and Jackson is a regional favorite in OH, Ashland didn’t impress me on the defensive side of the ball. Offensively they have weapons. But Ashland has neutralized us with their defense the last few years and this Ashland team simply doesn’t look like those teams that flew sideline to sideline. That’s why I think this game stays close and we have a shot.

And some of these comments have me wondering if there’s some Ashland folks already looking for excuses…

What is Raceland’s RBs name? Found belfry scrimmage on YouTube and he’s creating yards that aren’t there. Looks like he could be a good player

You say that why? You think they are going to be a factor?

Landon Stiltner…soph
Ayden Cooper…senior
Shannon Marushi…JR
Landon Bloss…soph

all 4 will see Carries. Stiltner is very explosive and runs extremely hard. If he can stay healthy he is a major difference maker.

Only one person really brought up the officials in a negative sense and none of his other posts mention Ashland and just a few involve Raceland.  Not sure what his angle is???

No, just think this game deserves an experienced crew who can handle the atmosphere.  Too often the best crews don't get the best games.

This is very true. There was a playoff game a few years ago at Ram Stadium with I believe a 10th region crew. There was a combined 61 penalties. Game took FOREVER. I watched one at Putnam between Ashland and JC in the playoffs one year that was bad as well.

Well, "experienced" and "best" aren't always the same lol. But I know who the crew is, and yes they are experienced.

Lmao. There’s a lot of guys in pinstripes that have been calling games for years. Some have aged like the finest wine…others like cheese

You are right "experienced" and "best" are not always the same.  This crew may be "experience" but are they the "best"???
#51
IMO, not the best, but not the worst.
#52
I hope they are ready for this environment, for the sake of both teams.
#53
Ashland leading Raceland 14-0 late in the 2nd quarter.
#54
Neither one of these teams are world beaters but the Rams are still fighting
Assland 21
Rams 7
#55
Such an ugly game. Both teams look rough IMO
#56
Rams look what they are….young. Promising though. Ashland is not as good as many thought they were. Myself included. 3 and 28 are their best players. And yes that includes Jennings.
#57
Yeah I take back my statement about Assland possibly being the most athletic team on the schedule. Some of their kids just didn’t develop like I thought they would
