Top Middle School Girl's Basketball teams for 2006-2007 Season
#1
David Conley at Elkhorn City Middle School will be loaded this upcoming season. He has everybody returning which went to the semi-finals of the county tournament last year. He has height in the Compton girl (6-0), great shooter in the Potter girl, and the best guards in the county in the McCarty & Webb girls. Coach Conley does a great job, if only we had the same caliber coach at the high school level.

Belfry will be the best in the area again.
#3
Who is going to coach Belfry Middle this year?
#4
Elkhorn does not return everyone..His daughter Caitlyn will be a freshman this year at East Ridge and the Swindell girl will also be a freshman but l heard she is going to Pike Central this year.

I figure they will move one of the assistants, Gilliam or Johnson into the position.

Here we go again, JD and hasbeen not up on thier basketball. The Coleman girl from Millard and Mullins Girl from Feds Creek Will attend Elkhorn City Middle School this semester and they will be better than they were last year. JD, you sure Randy McCoy isn't coaching this team. Belfry lost to many players to repeat and if it had not been for the Whitt brothers from the Belfry area they wouldn't have won it last year.
#7
The Swindell girl is staying at East Ridge so don't get your hopes up. Talked to her dad today.

On another thread it was Mike Hall and Mike Walker, now it's the Whitt brothers on this thread. If your basketball (referee) knowledge is what you let on to be, you would know that there is only one Whitt that still refs. What referee will it be in the next thread. Can't wait for a wisdom filled reply!!!!! :dontthink

How I am not up on my basketball? When was I off? If the thread said they are returning everyone at Elkhorn, then are Conley and Swindell holding back and playing again which I didn't think was aloud..All I said was they weren't returning their entire team from last year..I agree Coleman and Mullins will help them, I was just stating the facts..As far as Swindell not being at East Ridge, that was just something I had heard and it's been a while..I for one hope she stays at East Ridge..her and Conley are two good young players that could help the high school program.

If you are talking Top Middle School Programs you have to mention Johnson County Middle School. They always have one of the TOP in the area. Boys and Girls.
#12
Ballerhasbeen, let the season begin and you will see what I'm talking about. That is if you even get out and watch and middle school games. If Johnson County boys and girls have top programs what happens to them when they get in high school. Yes I know Johnson Central Boys won the region last year and Paintsville has won it, but Johson Central being such a big school should dominate every year.East Ridge Girl's Basketball program ahs a bright future. You should see the kids we have coming up through our middle schools and the ones that are going to be freshmen this year, wait a couple of years and watch out!!!

Actually I attended more than 30 middle school games last year of several schools including across the state..I wasn't saying Elkhorn would not be strong this year, just that they won't return their entire team..I actually respect Coach Conley very much and think he is one of the best middle school coaches in the area and does a great job with his team.

How do you get that Johnson Central isnt succesful after they get out of grade school lol...from the 2000-2001 season to this up coming season their record is 123 and 55 which gives them a 69 winning percentage...In these years they have racked up 3 district championships one district runners-up and two regional titles...if you take out the 2002-2003 season their record would be 117 and 37 with a 76 winning percentage sounds like to me they continue to succed after grade school...

15thRegionSlamaBamma, last time I checked 69% IS A d ON THE GRADING SCALE , NOT VERY GOOD.
Confusedhh:
#16
wow i hope that wasnt supposed to be funny lol...with a winning percentage of 69% over a 6 year spand is pretty dam good there ERblue...not to many teams can say that over a 6 year basis that they won almost 70 percent of their games...East Ridge in their exsistence has went 50 and 57 to end up at 47% winning percentage only having one winning season...hmmmm and your critzing a team that has won 69% of their games over 6 years and has 2 region titles wow...

Excuse me but what ER winning percentage? The grading scale ain't got squat to do with winning percentage. LOL! Last I checked JC has quite a few Regional Girls Titles. Their Girls program has always been strong and always will. BUT< Unless I misread this thread it is about Middle School. NOT High School!

RidgeRunner, you are correct this is about middle school. Some jealous fan from Johnson County can't stand the domiance that the Pike County teams have had over the last few years.

Well now I wouldn't go that far. It has been a virtual toss up in the 15th Region in just about every sport for the last few years. But, since you mentioned it in 2005/06: Boys Basketball Region Champs: JC, Girls Basketball Region Champs: MC, Football Class A District Champs: Paintsville, 3A: Ashland,2A: Belfrey (Which there are no JC Schools in that Class), Baseball Region Champs: SC, Girls Softball Region Champs: SV. 4 of the 5 major sports in the Region were won by 57th District Schools. I know this is about Middle School. BUT, I just had to make a point about the virtual toss up and the comment "the domiance that the Pike County teams have had over the last few years." that you made.

Belfry might be good this year

ok im not sure if that comment was talking about me but if it is then you are very wrong b/c i am actually from Pike County and use to go to Millard...I am just tired of ppl like you giving ER all this praise...give some crtisim but that is just to much to ask from ppl like you...I can understand having pride in your school but you cant sit there and make them sound like a team that they arent...

but back on topic...Johns Creek always fields a great team as well does Belfry and with the kids that EC have coming up sounds liek they will have a good team...Im sure JC will have a great team to...

First off your an idiot.

2nd, Belfry lost EXACTLY ONE GIRL.

3rd, the girls coach will be Keith May, Bobby Varney, or a combination of the 2.
#23
Jdifuplease, don't care if Belfry has all their players back they won't beat Elkhorn City or Dorton this year idiot.
Smile
#24
thats you prediction there ERblue but the thing is if Belfry only loses one girl and won county last year would that not tell you that they will be tough to beat yet again...
#25
Are they going to let all the girls that came from West Virginia play with Belfry again this year?
#26
15thregionslamaBamma, what I'm trying to tell you is that Elkhorn City will be a lot better than they were last year and Belfry barely got by them in the semifinals thanks to to those boys(referees) across the river from Belfry you might want to bring them again this season you will need them.

:lmao:
#27
well why dont you say that instead of telling someone their an idiot and telling them thier is no chance they will beat EC...b/c let me tell you there is a chance...Oh and by the way im not Belfry so you dont have to tell me to bring referees to games to win...Where i come from we can do it on our own...But anyways back to the real subject...To me it sounds like EC will have a good team as will Belfry..Dorton is always tough on the girls side as well as Johns Creek...Johnson Central will be awsome like always and i look for others in that area to field good teams...
#28
I think that JD knows a little to much about the head coaching position at Belfry. The rumor around Belfry is the coach has been selected for over a week. The reason for the delay of announcing is the events that have happened in the new head coachs family.
#29
15thRegionSlamaBamma, you must be from Mike Hall & Mike Walker country and you say you people do it on your own. You know what I'm talking about idiot.
#30
Hey buddy dont be calling me an idiot i know more than you do about high school sports...Ok u act like ER is the golden oasis of the earth...I have news for you buddy if it wasnt for the refs ER would have never been in the Regional FInal in 2004...not saying they didnt deserve it b/c im not going to take that away from them...Where i am from Pike Central its obvious refs arent on our side as it has been seen many many times so yes we do it on our own...So stop being a jerk and talk sports if you know what ur talking about which by what ppl have shown me on here you know just about nothing...
