Somerset @ Perry County Central 8/18
#1
Somerset vs Perry County Central on Friday. Thoughts?
#2
I think this will be a better game than most might think.
#3
This should be a close game. I pick Perry County Central with its home field edge.
#4
Not familiar with what somerset returns, I know Guy Bailey left for Corbin, but I understand they still have a great running attack, so Perry will have to step up defensively, on the offensive side, Perry will throw the football a lot, if they can add a good run game, we may be ok. Gonna go

Perry 35
Somerset 27
#5
Somerset 28-20.
#6
Somerset will be more experienced, more size, way more speed.

Weak spot huge line but young line.

Run game is nice, passing game is nice.

Defense was able to catch and tackle Bardstown so the speed is there, and was scoring on Bardstown.

I like somerset this year as far as district and region.

Perry is much improved, they question will the speed, new offense for the Jumpers. They're still learning.

I'm going 21-17 jumpers but could easily be flipped. Hard game to project with so many changes that's took place.

District? And region?

Uhm…well…I guess anything is possible. I’ll be on the lookout for the flying pigs.

Not sure about the experience, this is gonna be Perry centrals most  experienced team they’ve had in a while, 13-14 returning seniors, including QB, RB, and Linebackers, and I think we match up size also, you may have a good point with the speed, that will be Perry’s weakest link.  Should be a great opening game ..

Definitely early but if Perry can't win this one then its gonna be a long season.
#11
I'll be interested in this one. I heard Somerset looked good in their scrimmages with Bardstown and Mercer County, and won the Mercer scrimmage. Anyone confirm?

I think that's a little premature. With everything that has happened at Somerset over the past year I don't think any of us really know what they will look like this season.

perrys offense should put a lot of points up, we have a really good QB, and he has 3-4 nice recievers, plus 2 good runing backs, our defense has looked better stopping the run game in scrimmages but passing defense is in question, i dont know anything about somerset but im going to say

perry 45
somerset 32

I'm not a Somerset fan, but I am a Clay Clevenger fan, so I'm pulling for the Briar Jumpers.
#14
I think Perry by a couple TDs but I think somerset will improve as the season goes on and they settle in with all of these changes. Clevenger will have them looking like a different team come October if they stay healthy.

Yes it's early but Somerset was not good last year, that is not up for debate. I definitely expect an improvement from the jumpers compared to last year but it's Clevenger's first year there and its gonna take a little bit longer to get Somerset back to where they were in my opinion.

Maybe you're right and they will be better than expected but based off of last year (which is really all we have to go off of) if Perry cannot beat Somerset which is coming off of a down year then it will in fact be a long year for the commodores.

i agree , that if perry wants to have a successful season, then this a game they have to win, because our schedule is tough,,

This is not a MUST WIN game for Perry. Will be a nice win for them however. Getting that Runnerup spot in the district is what Perry is more than likely after. Then they get the game with Boyle in the playoffs.

If and that’s a big if they get the 2 seed, they wouldn’t play Boyle first round would they? I’m not sure how that works so just asking.

I think this is the best way to look at it. Somerset will be a bit of an enigma this year. I don’t doubt that Clevenger will make things better but I hear there’s only 4 assistants and him. (Or maybe he was one of the 4).

Makes me wonder why there’s no staff in place after being announced almost 8/9 months ago.

For the past two seasons Somerset has had to start sophomores and freshman. Last year they got better now does sophomores and freshman are seniors and juniors. Somerset hasn't had a senior group in two years. For example last year 6 seniors only one played others injuries one a kicker.

Now please don't get me wrong, I'm not tooting horns, but my point is this team had no way to go but up after the the huge graduation classes they had and small groups that where behind them. They are now experienced from the beating they've took the players in general. They keep working. The speed, size, and experience showed against Bardstown to be there. Doesn't mean anything but comparing to what I've seen from other teams they just look a lot better, but that could be wrong starting season.

As for coaches. Clevenger wants a young staff to grow with and it's working numbers r up and players look excited.

Ty tevis Lindsey Wilson national championship team, Kaden skidmore eastern KY OL coach, castle hatch qbs, george hatcher OL, and was told Ben Simmons from state champion team will be coming to help coach line. There's 2 more coach's I forget they're names so I dont know how you get 4.

But like any team it's depends on who shows up each week, but remember it was 2019 a lot of people cough "breathitt" ate a lot of crow that year. Good luck to all the teams.

Wrong! He has 7 assistants . He has some really good young coaches one started 4 years EKU at lineman and another that played on Lyndsey Wilson national championship team! Very good coaches kids respond well to them. Somerset did do some addition by subtraction from last season in several areas. The complete mindset has changed around this program they have good team speed and good athletes that were always there just needed someone to chang the mindset
#22
PCC should have a really good team this season. It’s tough to go into the mountains and win unless you have a considerably better team and I don’t know how good Somerset is right now. This should be a good matchup.

It's too early for must wins.... but this is definitely a should win for Perry.

It'll be a good indicator of the season for Perry if they lose this game.

Anyone know the line on this game?

Correction blocked pt, pentalty of course 2 pt good 21-15 somerset

Anybody at this game? This officiating is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.

Wow. This is ridiculous.
#30
Somerset had a field goal blocked while down 22 to 21 Somerset took the blocked ball for a touchdown but the officials ran off the field as the ball was in play and nobody knows what's going on
Apparently the officials ran off the field while the ball was still in play did not signal the game over and Somerset returned the ball to win the game I'm getting a lot of crazy information from this from different sources
