Ashland has grown up a lot this year but I think they are punching out of their weight class in this one. I’ll be pulling for the Tomcats but I think CAL simply physically outmatches them. I think Ashland will hang for a half with CAL pulling away late

If you told me they would be in the final 4 after we played them in week 1 I wouldn’t have believed you.  Ashland has done a great job at responding to the adversity of having a rough start and ended up having a really good season.  They will be hard to handle for the next couple of seasons.

If we played them right now I’m not so sure we would beat them.  It definitely wouldn’t be a 4 score win like the first game was.

I had a feeling Ashland might sneak out with a win in this one, but then I saw the only close game CAL has had was last week. That includes a 40 point beating of Elizabethtown which wasn’t that bad of a team. CAL must be something different this year that the Tomcats haven’t seen. CAL by 21.

Haven’t watched CAL but I’m sure they’re as good or better than anyone on Ashland’s schedule this season. Tomcats are playing with house money and have a shot at a massive upset. If Ashland can keep it close into the 2nd half and put pressure on a team that hasn’t had a close game this season maybe just maybe the Tomcats can pull it out. Either way Ashland is loaded the next few seasons and should grow from this game and gain valuable knowledge and experience for next year.

I watched a little bit of CAL’s game with LCA and they have a solid line and their defense looks a lot like Ashland’s from the 2020 state championship team.   I think Ashland is still a year away from being able to compete at that level but I think they will play CAL tough and make them earn everything they get.

CAL wins this one but it won't be easy. I think the Tomcats will be well prepared and have the right game plan. This will keep it close for a while but in the end age and experience will prevail over youth.
