Thoughts?

I think this game will be like the Paintsville game. Raceland has been playing against air the last two weeks so it’s gonna take them a half to adjust to the speed and physicality of the game. I can’t believe it’s been 30 years

You must be really old if remember Raceland and Hazard playing each other.
Crazy to think that Raceland and Hazard were once district rivals. I would have liked to have seen this series go on, it would have been a good for both programs. Those games were really good games when they played.
That being said, this is about the time and the type of opponent that Raceland will decide to choke. This feels like 2008 to me. I really hope I am wrong. I want to see Raceland get over that hump and finally win it all.

The lack of quality competition may hurt the Rams this week. The argument could be made that this is the toughest team that Raceland has seen outside of Highlands but the Rams are not the toughest team Hazard has seen this year. I think Raceland pulls out the win but Hazard will make them earn it.

Raceland 27
Hazard 14.

I think it all comes down to which Hazard team comes. If they come to play I think the Rams by 2 scores and if they don’t it won’t be pretty and the Rams will roll big. Turnovers will be a big key to how bad the score is and Hazard can’t have those uncalled for penalties but good luck to both

I’ll be honest when I say I truly believed last year had they played that Hazard would’ve beaten Raceland, but this year I think it’s highly unlikely. Hazard has puzzled me this year. I was really expecting more. I didn’t think they would beat Pikeville but I really didn’t think they’d get steamrolled like that. Then the loss to SV was mind blowing really. Then they turn around and have a dog fight with Pineville. Then go to Williamsburg and lay a butt kicking on Williamsburg. Absolutely puzzling. I’ll definitely be anxious to see how this game plays out but I would think Raceland wins rather easily and a good chance it’s a shortened running clock game. Good luck to both teams on an injury free game and whichever team wins I truly hope Pikeville is fortunate enough to win as well and has the opportunity to see the winner at Kroger. I’ll be rooting for the winner of this game to win in that semifinal game

It sounds like the tale of the Ashland Belfry game.  Turnovers took Belfry out of that game all night long.

In this game Raceland has too much depth to make mistakes with and can make teams pay if given a short field. Hazards keys in this one has to be finding a way to shorten the time Raceland’s offense is on the field and sustain long drives.

I honestly thought going into the season that Hazard would be with Raceland and Pikeville at the top of 1A and have a realistic chance to win a State Championship. However, they just haven't been as good so far as I expected but Hazard has some good talent and it wouldn't shock me if they gave the Rams a game...but Raceland will be too much for the Dawgs and pull away in the 2nd half.

Wishful thinking. Raceland's not giving up 35 points to Hazard.

I agree. If Hazard wins it is a 21-17 type of game.

big IF.

After shutting out The Berg 27-0 at the Berg, Hazard has a better chance than I thought at Raceland. Gonna still go with the Rams 26-20. But Hazard is clicking the best they have all year long.

Pikeville hammered Hazard by 45 a few weeks back. I expect Raceland to do the same.

I agree with everything you said but I look for Hazard to come with a full house backfield and run Johnson behind those 2 blockers and Johnson is a very good back and if he gets started he will be a danger to take it to the house. Raceland has a very good defense and it’s definitely hard to run on but let Hazard get 4 yards a carry and control the clock to me is the only chance Hazard has

Hazard is a very undispline team when it comes to Unsportslike penalties

This game scares me. It feels very similar to the situation in 2017 when we beat Paintsville. 4/5 times Paintsville wins that game going away but they caught us on the night when the odds were in our favor.
#24
raceland but close and physical
#25
Will the cold be a factor in this game? None of these teams have played in cold weather yet this year. The high in Raceland Friday night is forecasted for 39 for a high 19 for a low.
#26
Raceland should win this game but Hazard is never an easy out in the playoffs.

Raceland 35
Hazard 14

This game goes like the Paintsville game, imo. Hazard comes out swinging but depth is the difference maker. Hazard has to score atleast 21 to have a snowballs chance. I dont see that happening.

Rams 42

1990.
Raceland and Hazard were in the same district from 1987-1990.
