Pikeville 36 Paintsville 13

jetpilot Wrote:^You could combine the Paintsville and Prestonsburg rosters and Pikeville was still going to win going away last night.

Roberts is a Prestonsburg kid. Is the Raines kid playing, or is he still hurt?

Z. Roberts probably didn't carry the ball 5 times last night. But he is very good. Don't know who the other kid is.

You forgot about Pikeville's defense. lol

2000PHS Wrote:I think Pikeville scores about 20-30 on Belfry so in comparison to what Paintsville gave up, yes they are a good class A defense.

Pikeville's D wasn't facing as strong an offense as Paintsville's was yes they looked good. Pikeville is good and actually real good.

Game wasn't in doubt but it COULD have been interesting if Pikeville goes 3 and out to start the 4th.

But they answered with 2 quick TDs. Paintsville has to find an identity on offense and they will be fine IMO. Otherwise they are going to get their QB killed running it 25 times a game lol.

You think Pikeville D holds Pikeville O to 20? I don't

I don't think Pikeville's QB is talked about enough. That kid is unreal. Can stop on a dime and cut like few players I've seen. Also with a great arm.

Check out the cut in this video that makes the Paintsville player whiff.

He isn’t playing yet but could be a help to Pikeville down the road, with all the cramping up last night he could give those guys some needed rest

Zack Roberts is really good. 195 pounds, decent speed. They played a 5-2 most of the game, when defenses play normal 3-4 and stuff, you guys will see!
#41
Everyone of pikevilles skill players are good. He just hasn’t been tested yet, but he will show up when the opportunity comes. Williamsburg, hazard (both games), raceland, and probably more he played well. And personally, I think he played well last night, blocking looked good by him

Pikeville just brings waves of athletes on both sides of the ball
#43
Both of these teams will look very different by the end of the season. Pikeville is just much farther along in the process of what they want to look like. They have so much talent on both sides of the ball and play very hard. Its a tossup for me between Pikeville and Belfry next week.

Paintsville looks like a team that is desperately trying to find an identity on offense and until they do that they aren’t going to put many points on the board. It seemed at one point they ran a designed QB run 10 plays in a row and then they tried out one of the WR in the backfield. The Tigers had a few decent drives but they couldn’t get any big plays and would end up turning the ball over or getting stalled. I’m surprised they haven’t used Phelps any at running back but they have a little time to figure things out as the schedule gets a little easier until the Hazard and Raceland games.

Pikeville just had too much for Paintsville, it’s that simple. Paintsville will be fine as the move along in their season. Pikeville will get much better than they are at this point, if everyone stays healthy.
#45
Dirtiest Paintsville team I’ve seen in years. Used to be, it was just good old fashioned hard hits right up to the whistle. Borderline stuff that I was actually ok with because it was hard nosed. But last night was blatantly clear they were playing to injure once they got behind. I thought my old eyes were just missing stuffnor seeing half of something, but quick look at the replays this morning tells me my gut was right. Not excusing what some of our penalties were at all. Some completely uncalled for and no doubt Mac will address that quick. But I lost a lot of respect for the Paintsville program last night. All I will say now is best of luck the rest of the way unless we play them again. And best wishes for an injury free rest of the season (I wish that for EVERY athlete and program). Done being nice with Paintsville though. That’s on the coaching staff, as it very closely reminds me of the Pburg HC and what he used to encourage.

Congratulations to the Panthers
#47
Congrats to the Panthers. The tigers have a good team but they are lacking any type of a passing game. When its all said and done this will hurt them come November.I know Belfry has built a dynasty without much of a passing game but not everybody is Belfry. If the Panthers can stay healthy it will take a very good class a team to beat them. Also the personal fouls did not help the tigers. This is not Coach Chirico style of play.
#48
Pikeville was able to beat Paintsville handily without playing anywhere near up to their potential, which is scary for future opponents considering Coach Macs track record in getting his teams better as the season goes along...

I don’t believe that for one minute. If it wasn’t he would correct it. Not one time did he pull any player for this uncalled junk. Now I might agree with you if this was the first game I have seen it but it happens in about ever game they play when the other team is competitive with them. Plan facts, they have talent but he has no control over them at all. Probably one reason he gets all the transfers because he has no control. I have seen coaches set personal out for a lot less than I have seen out Paintsville. I hope he does straighten it out before someone does get hurt, but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

Paintsville has played with a punkish attitude for several years now. Reflects very poorly on the community and especially the coaches. 98% fine people in Paintsville. I can't figure out why they tolerate it.

I didn’t say anything but there are some on the middle school that do some of the same stuff not as bad but if they see in high school they will do it there also
#53
I'm pretty sure Pikeville had just as many personal fouls last night as Paintsville. As for the middle school game, I was at that game also and I don't remember seeing one personal foul on either team. Just sayin

May want to take off the maroon tinted glasses. I saw a lot of cheap shots from the Panther side too.

I agree that there where some on Pikeville, but the reason there were so many on Pikeville mostly was retaliating and I am from Belfry don’t wear tinted glasses. You might to watch some film and be unbiased in you opinion. Definitely 1 on Pikeville if I was the coach he would definitely see some bench time. But Paintsville has been doing for years and I just don’t want any kid hurt

Your right there was none called but that don’t mean there shouldn’t have been. Watch the film and honestly tell me there were not late hits one on a kid out of bounds and one on a kid on the ground. I know these young men get their adrenaline flowing and make stupid mistakes but the coach needs to control them and in my opinion theirs don’t. I believe when Coach Mac watches that film he will punish that one I was talking about on Pikeville
#57
It was obvious that Paintsville was frustrated. In all reality, probably should’ve been a running clock. Bad snap fumble on first possession on Paintsville’s 20. Dropped pass in the end zone. Could’ve been much worse for the Tigers. Without the retaliatory penalties on Pikeville...! Anyone watching could see it, even the Tiger fans have to realize that it should’ve been much worse.

Agreed and he should. We need to hold our players to a high standard. Not a bad kid at all, but that was an uncalled for shot. I saw linemen of ours get horse-collared while chasing plays, elbows to the helmet, blatant jersey grabs and pull to the ground, at least two chop blocks that didn’t get called, etc. Holds and stuff get missed every game. That’s not my complaint nor yours. 100% agree with you Patriot!!!

Jet there are a lot of people in Paintsville that I really like, too. I just believe that like I said before they get that adrenaline flowing and it happens but just don’t want any young man hurt

After reading all the posts I have learned something I really did not know.I found out I have not kept up with the tiger football program like I thought I had.I guess i made my original comment based souly on Coach Chirico when he was an assistant at Prestonsburg.I always thought he tried to teach his players to be well disciplined players.I know in that type of game the adrenaline is flowing fast but there does come a time when as a coach you know your team is getting too many personal fouls. Some of the posts here says Pikeville had just as many personal fouls as Paintsville.I think all of those were probably due to retaliation.
