Just the stupidity of this amazes me. These tournaments are suppose to be about the kids and the whole environment. I look for Rupp Arena to follow this move and put the erruption zone in the nose bleed sections. You know, for safety.

Got to get the coaches to agree to it in the SEC. Lol. I agree stupidity. What are some coaches afraid of in this district?

The student section should stay the same for the district as it is in the regular season. South Laurel in penalized for having a really good student section this year.

Someone told me that even South Laurel voted for this. Could be completely wrong, but I think all four schools decided that.
Probably has to do with the Wburg/South problems earlier in the year.
But I ask once again, who is to stop paying customers from setting where they want? I really don't understand how they could stop it. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
64 made a good point as well. the regular season may very well be over. There may not be school all week for some of these teams. This could really effect the way the teams play in the tourney.

Davis was only one voted to leave student section as they are,,,all other 3 schools voted move them up because they were afraid of interference....just talk to writer that was at meeting

I don't blame Davis wanting the whole side of the lower seats. Marked off for south Laurel crazies. The way I see it first come first served. Just don't marked it off and I think this would be a dead issue. eriously: GO CRAZIES

Why is the FACT that SL made the 1st proposal ,that SL stay downstairs and all 3 other schools go upstairs, not mentioned. No school in their right mind would agree to that. If SL AD would have just used a little common sense and said when your team is playing you sit downstairs across from your teams bench. SL would be right where they want to be.

When we played at South this year there was an instance where the ref had to tell the students several times to move back because we were trying to take the ball out of bounds and they were surrounding our player. At other gyms the student section is behind their players bench or not right on the floor. I have no problem with a loud student section but with them being right on the floor instead of the first row being in the stands this did cause a problem. My other issue is yelling you suck after the announcement of every player. I personally think that is very rude! I don't think anyone wants to hear students yelling that at other players. I know I wouldn't want my student yelling that. Yell for your team and cheer them on by all means. The louder the better!

I think the entire lower sections should be for the students...Us old folks are just spectators...This stuff is of the kids, by the kids, and for the kids. Let em raise a little heck and have some fun...Just my two cents.

I kinda agree with all. I don't think its right for SL to sit downstairs and others upstairs. It's a 50th district tournament SL just happens to be host his year. It's not considered a home game for them. They will be wearing visitor uniform and will probably be visitor on scoreboard unless otherwise agreed upon. In all 3 other gyms in district reserve seats are across from team bench thus easy for students to sit behind their bench and not be on floor.

I agree it's about the kids but the 10 kids that are on the floor should come first. They shouldn't be allowed to be disrespected by anyone. I guess that is just my pet peeve. We as spectators and students from other schools have no idea what these students have had to overcome to be where they are. In my years of traveling all over the place to watch my boys play ball have seen some very rude fan bases and student sections. We all have them my team included. I just think we shouldn't allow a student section to say hurtful foul things. You can cheer and be supportive without that.

Believe me when I say, everything is voted on at tournament time. And it can get petty and kinda childish at times.

I wish the 50th could just have district at the arena

We should let it be for the kids. Mall prayer and a different job can forgive all.

Not real sure what your last sentence meant. But I agree with you that it's great that we are seeing more kids at the games, there was a stretch of a number of years when almost none were coming across the region. Anyway my only take was, since South was hosting, how did this even come to a vote? Shouldn't they have just said seats (except the reserved chair backs) are first come, first-served, and when it's your guys turn to host the tournament, you can do your seating as you wish.

Home floor and best big man in district.. That spells District Championship ... South
02-21-2015, 05:59 PM
It will be interesting to see how Williamsburg handles the pressure and environment with a probably 500+ student section on top of them. Most teams have not handled it very well this year.

I don't know about all of that.. If that district comes down to coaching, you better take Coach P
