15th Region
#1
Who are the early favorites to win the 15th region?
#2
#1 LC
#2 JC
LC returns 2 much not 2 be the favorite this year.
All 5 starters back plus summer ball got some quality
time for their bench players.
JC lost way to much 2 be the favorite.
#3 Paintsville will be a very good team.
#4 Shelby Valley a lot of talent back.
#5 Sheldon Clark great team, great coach.
#6 Betsy Lane
#7 Pike County Central
#8 East Ridge
#9 Magofin County
#10 Pikeville High
#3
Johnson central is still my pick
#4
I watched a lot of summer ball and Magoffin and Pikeville looked pretty good. I know Magoffin has 4 starters back with there leading scorer Russell back. I like the kid for Pikeville Huffman I think that's his name.
#5
Johnson Central beat each regional opponent they played this summer and most teams had their players. SC was without a couple but had Parsley and James both games. Paintsville is going to be scary if everybody is healthy. Magoffin was the closest opponent to JC this summer, within 3 points, but was handily beaten by other district teams. Should be an exciting year for the 15th again.
#6
Both Mag. Co. & Pikeville will be better than BL, Pike Central, and East Ridge. Paintsville has way too many question marks to be rated that high. JC has to be the favorite. They are still really good. SC and LC should be 2 & 3 in preseason for what it's worth,
#7
Magoffin beat LC only district team to beat Magoffin was Sheldon Clark. and I like Pikeville. I think the 15 region is wide open.
#8
JC Beat Magoffin.
#9
A buddy of mine said JC did beat Magoffin by 3 He said MC did not have the Lovely kid there point guard.
#10
Yeah Huffman from Pikeville is good, but, what about the Freshman Hamilton, transferring to Pikeville from BL. He was awesome during summer ball.
#11
The Hamilton kid from Pikeville can't be stopped on the inside !!!!
#12
Huffman is a good player . like I said the 15 region is wide open .
#13
Johnson Central or Sheldon Clark.
#14
Hamilton from BL?
Do you mean Meade?
Or, was there another transfer?
#15
The most generic comment made on a consistent basis is that the 15th is "wide open." Does anyone really understand what that means? The 15th Region has 2, maybe 3 teams, depending on the tournament draw, that can win the 15th Region Tournament at the Expo in March. Outside of a fluke or something drastic happening (transfers, etc.), and it very well could happen, Sheldon Clark, Johnson Central, or Lawrence County will win it. We've heard for 3 years in a row how wide open it is...and we all new who would win, who should win, and they did win. It's no different this year. One of those three....
#16
Are you kidding me the last three years was not wide open ,JC was by far the best team in the region. Now maybe another team has a shot to win the region. They are about 7 teams that could win the region ,all it takes is a injury or a bad break. and a team goes home.

An incoming freshman named Zach Hamilton also transferred to Pikeville along with Dalton Meade. That's two potential big men that could have been a help to the Bobcats this upcoming season. Because Meade was huge last year when Lako Daniels went down with a knee injury during district tournament.
#21
Betsy Layne has a history of losing talent to Pikeville. Tough loss for BL
#22
Heard SC got a new addition today a 6'7" addition if they did that just may put them in a very good position with the kids that really grew up this summer
#23
Cordia player movin to Inez? Does Frankie have enough balls to keep the cardinal faithful happy?
#24
If true this team will be explosive.
#25
It is true and a transfer within KHSAA rules.
#26
it is true and the kids on the team are very excited. the region will be one between these 5 teams; JC clear favorites , and in no particular order behind them are; SC, LC, Valley, and Pikeville. Those are the the 5 best teams period.
#27
This region will be the most wide open it's been in a long time. There could 5 or 6 different teams with a real shot to win it.
#28
I like Lawrence Co & Painstville but Johnson Central will still be the team to beat because of there depth. Most schools in the 57th have good talent but 8 players will have a hard time beating 12, sorry I love the small school's (under dog) as mutch as any one but that's my opinion I've ben wrong before.(hope I'm wrong this time)
#29
Lawrence County should be really good this year along with Johnson Central, Shelby Valley, and Sheldon Clark. I think one of those 4 teams win it with a couple other teams not far behind them. My pick is still Johnson Central.

I really wouldn't count Paintsville out. If everyone can stay healthy they will be dangerous.:redboxer:
