Letcher Co Central 2013
#61
Title town 3 Wrote:LCC must of reached way down in their pocketbook. Sources are telling me that Mike Holcomb of Breathitt Co may be the next head coach for LCC. Although he would be crazy to leave Breathitt Co because they pay him more than enough and he has been there for 30 years. Sources also tell me that it is a package deal for Holcomb and Deny Fugate (BHS basketball Coach). Fugate would get the head basketball coach at LCC. Also it as been said that Wes Noble the outstanding reciever in football, and one of the top guards in the 14th region maybe enrolled there next year. I know that Mike Holcomb has almost left BHS before, in the late 90's he put in for the Madison Central job twice, he also try to make the jump to the college rank when he put in for the LWC job. Holcomb I think want to see if he can still get them big jobs and then at the last second he always decides to stay at Breathitt Co. But this time is different I really think deep down he is gone this time.

And, that is why he would make more at LCC. He could get his KTRS pay for 30 years + an additional salary (to a certain % of his retirement pay) at LCC.

See:
Jack Haskins (McCracken County HS, formerly Lone Oak)
Larry French (Boyle)
Tom Larkey (Harlan County)

All of those guys get their KTRS retirment (full benefits, pay included obviously) + another coaching stipend at their current school (and, often times 100 day contracts or daily classified pay for doing things like ISS).

Still 50/50 if he takes it. Need to try to get it done before spring practice which might be next week.

I didn't realize they were some changes taking place high up in Lcc. Holcomb wil not come then. He want go into a hornets nest I guarantee that. He likes to have control and the power to much. The only way he will come if he knows the superintendent and full control of the athletic department. I just don't see how letcher central can offer him more than he already making. I know in late 90s he was one of the highest paid coaches in the state. He is also the athletic director at breathitt to and I would almost say he still ranks up there with his coaching pay right now.

The football team, if im not mistaken, has to wait until both the girls and boys basketball team have been eliminated from competetion, and they can start the following Monday.

I thought it was just the boys.

No boy and girls it does not have to be the next week you can pick when you want to have it.
#70
Any news on the Coach position?
#71
Termite to be honest with you they don't know what to do. If Mike Holcomb doesn't take it, then they are in a political problem. Some of the other parents wants one, some want the other one. Who knows! It seems to me they need to get the kids together because those are the ones that matter not parents.

We will have a coach by Friday.
#73
I heard that if they didn't land Halcomb, they would go after Justin Haddix. That would be a big pay increase for Haddix.
#74
The suspense is killing me.

Does LCC have the QB too run Holcomb's spread run offense like he did at Breathitt?
#79
Think we do. He might go more pass offense. We will wait and see.
#80
we have Houston Watts he's a quick ball player, but nothing like what Breathitt had last year
#81
It is going to be a fun year for LCC
