Elite trio of football prospects likely to visit Kentucky

Most coaching staffs put together weeks before Signing Day simply scramble to hold onto the pieces that are already in place. Not this one.

Cats Illustrated learned on Wednesday afternoon that an elite trio of prospects from Immokalee (Fla.) are likely to take official visits to Kentucky before Signing Day.

Early on Wednesday, four-star defensive tackle Deadrin Senat confirmed that he was being recruited by the Wildcats. He also confirmed that he has interest in Mark Stoops' program.

While the nation's No. 25 defensive tackle was unavailable at that time for further comment, we reached out to Immokalee's coach, Jared Ackley, and he spoke about Senat.

"Yeah, he's being recruited by Kentucky," Ackley said. "I think he's going to take (an official) visit. There's a few kids going up to Kentucky. Mackenro and Mackensie (Alexander) are going, too."

Mackensie Alexander is one of the nation's top cornerbacks and participated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He spoke with Cats Illustrated last month and confirmed that Kentucky was recruiting him, and that he was entertaining interest from the school.

"Schools like Kentucky don't get guys like me all the time," Alexander said at the time. "But I think they've got a chance. It's in the SEC.

"You look at the guys there now ... I mean, I've seen them on TV. They've got good kids, but you need ballers that can come over there to change the program. You watch them play this year and they're right there, but they need to get a few ballers."

His brother, Mackenro Alexander, is a big-time player in his own right. The 6-foot, 190-pound safety is a three-star prospect.

Their coach added that the trio is very close.

"This is a small town," Ackley said. "They've all grown up together. A lot of times when coaches say this it's cliche, but this team is a family. These kids are here with each other constantly, whether we're in school or out of school."

Stoops is the main reason for the trio's interest in Kentucky.

"Coach Stoops recruited those kids from Florida State," Ackley said. "Coach [D.J.] Elliot's the one recruiting them now."

Do those coaches have a good reputation down in Immokalee?

"Oh yeah, without a doubt," he responded.

Ackley did not share the date that those prospects would be officially visiting Lexington, nor did he say what other schools those prospects might visit.

"The kids don't want me sharing all that stuff but they are going to go to Kentucky," he said.

According to KSR, Javess Blue is on campus this weekend instead of next. Also on campus, 4 star MacKenzie & 3 star MacKenro Alexander but no Deadrin Senat. Also present is the aforementioned Cypress Bay 3 Star WR Alex Montgomery along with 4 Star WR James Clark from New Smyrna Beach, FL, & 2 Star DL Regie Meant from Capel Coral, FL. No mention of Jaranta Lewis, Mikel Horton, or Drew Barker. If everyone mentioned surrounding this weekend, it is no doubt the biggest recruiting weekend in UK football history. No doubt that that UK has probably never had this many 4 stars on campus at the same time, unless it was for the visiting team. LOL.
