One name I'm not seeing much mention on here is Zack Jenkins. I look for some very good thing out of him next year. I'm not sure where he will fit in but one thing I do know is you better find him on the field or you'll be looking for you mouthpiece and helmet....possibly with your head still in it.

Thank you! I DO remember him!
He was a beast; can't believe I don't recall his name though. Guess I must be getting old.

From The Sidelines: Larkey completes 2013, 2014 schedules

If you want to see the top football programs in eastern Kentucky over the next two seasons, you could just follow the Harlan County Black Bears.
Harlan County coach Tom Larkey completed the Bears 2013 and 2014 schedules last week by adding a game against Knox Central to round out one of the most challenging slates in this part of the state. Harlan County will play Bell County, Belfry, Johnson Central and Knox Central, arguably the four top teams in this part of the state last year, other than Harlan County.
"We definitely have one of the toughest schedules in the state," Larkey said. "It was the best I could do. I would liked to have had some games that were closer, but you can't schedule them if they won't play."
Harlan County will open its schedule in Week O at the Roy Kidd Bowl at Madison Central, taking on the host Indians. Harlan County will play Bryan Station in the second year of the bowl.
The Bears will be at home against Clay County in Week 1 for each of the next two years, then begin a brutal four-week stretch that includes Belfry and Knox Central at home followed by Johnson Central and Greeneville, Tenn., on the road. Belfry (12-3) was the 3A state runner-up last season. Johnson Central (9-3) and Knox Central (10-2) each lost in the second round of the 4A playoffs, following to Covington Catholic and Lexington Catholic, respectively. Greeneville (8-4) is a traditional Tennessee power that lost to Knoxville Fulton in the second round of the 5A playoffs last season. Greeneville lost 31-28 to Morristown West last season, a week after the Bears lost 35-25 to the Trojans.
"The roughest part of the schedule no doubt is playing Belfry, Knox Central, Johnson Central and Greeneville one right after the other," Larkey said. "We are accused of being a very physical team, but these teams are physical, too."
The Bears have an open date before playing host to Letcher Central, traveling to Whitley County and returning home to face Perry Central in its three-game district slate. The Bears close the regular season at Bell County.
"I like an open date during the middle of the season," said Larkey, who noted the Bears have five home games the next two years. "I was lucky to get as many home games as I did. Our players will work hard this offseason to prepare themselves for this gruesome schedule."

Well looks like HC will be more televised than UK this coming year with a possibility of being game of the week 4 or 5 times. Belfry for sure, Johnson Central good possibility, Perry maybe, Whitley maybe, and Bell being the past 2 years a good possibility.

Who would have ever thought a high school schedule would be played on turf 8 out of 10 games. Especially a mountain team. The boys and coaches will have their work cut out for them from the start of the season till the end. Heck the first round of the playoffs might be their easiest game all season but District 7 will have atleast 3 very good teams this year with Madison, Pulaski and North with Pulaski SW coming on also. Wish I hadn't seen the schedule just makes me wish for fall to hurry up.

Yeah when i saw the completed schedule this morning i was shocked to see knox on their, very happy though as i think these two should be playing every year. I do have to say though, thats a pretty tough schedule, should be prepared for the playoffs with that schedule. Just like bigguy989 said, "first round of playoffs might be the easiest game of the year". I'm thinking the same thing.

Wow what a schedule. To be the best you gotta beat the best.
Kudos to the coach for such a schedule.
Good luck in 2013 Black Bear Nation.

It will be a great game every Friday night what else could you ask for. If you happened to miss a game last year at this state of the art facility 2013 will be a season not to miss. Look forward to seeing Clay County, Belfry, LCC, Perry and Knox coming to play at the Bears Den and going to Johnson Central with their nice field also and of course the game on Log mountain will be a game for the decades.

I may regret saying this, but one thing that stands out to me about this schedule, is the number of "mountain" teams that it contains.
I think that's pretty cool!!!

You will have a lot of trouble finding one at all, the law has made it very difficult to buy one unless you are a railroad. I know this cause I work for Csx and I've been trying for 4 years to get one. But it's not worth losing a job over. The only thing I think you could do is use a semi truck horn with a good air compressor. But if you luck up and do find one don't let anyone know where you got it....
If you talk to coach Larky he might be able to help get one through the school but not sure how that would work..

I believe this proves the HC fans were right when they said they were trying to schedule tough games.
This schedule is brutal. It reminds me of what Whitley has been doing for years. It can either really lift your team up or completely shut them down. Either way i truly believe a tougher schedule makes you stronger come playoff time.
Should be a fun year around the mountains. Whitley picked up Knox as well and will get there shot at the Harris kid from Madison Southern in week 0. They also have Bell, and Boyle is like the Belfry game for HC.
HC is the favorite next year, there is no doubt about that. That junior class was stacked!
