Time heals all wounds and apparently enough time has passed. Rumor is this is a go for next season. I certainly welcome it.

I hope both teams keep Harlan County on the schedule and I'd like to see KC add Whitley. Corbin would be fun also but I don't see that happening.

Id like to see it as well.
It may happen in the future. I know Whitley is dropping Lynn Camp(after 40 something years) Rockcastle (it may still happen, but nothing as of yet, love this series and hope it continues.) Russell County (will definitely not be on the schedule again), Somerset (It will probably be the last year.) We are going to keep Bell and Boyle for sure from what i hear.
So, with that said, i know Madison Southern is on Whitley schedule for the next two years, and that leaves room for hopefully a Knox Central and Corbin matchup in the future.

There are too many good programs around for Knox, Bell, and Harlan County to have to play so many out of state games. I would hope they continue to play one another and addsome more local teams. The better a team is the better it is for all teams involved you do not get better if you dont play better teams!

This would be great. I have to say coach Russell has it going on at Knox. I think Knox plays Harlan County. It will be interesting if they play.

Knox would beat bell this year IMO but I'm open for debate.

They do indeed play Harlan County as they did last season. If Clay County continues their upward tic and Whitley could be added, KC would have a very competive schedule with Bell, Whitley, Harlan County plus distict games against the likes of Rockcastle, Russell Co., and Clay Co.

It would be, at the very least, interesting.

As much as I try to stay positive on here this is one where I have a really bad taste in my mouth. This game should NEVER have been taken from Knox and Bell Seniors last year. Coaches change all the time. Kids should not be punished for such things.
Would we have won last year? Would we beat them this year? The sad fact is no matter what any of us THINK - none of us will ever know due to some really sad choices by those who made this decision.
So bring it back for sure; but do so knowing two years of mountain football history were erased needlessly. I wish Bell the best and the young players at Knox who will enjoy this excellent rivalry for many years to come.

I made some calls. It is true. Playing next year at Knox then at Bell the following year.

This is one game that a lot of people have missed seeing it was a sad day when coach mills said that he didn't want to play Knox anymore, think the reason for that was there always bad blood between the schools an when he left he knew it would be even worse, so he didn't want to play until the group he had been with was gone. Im glad to see this game comming back again it gives a little more meaning to football in the mountains again!! Can't wait to see this happen

I'm sure there was no competative love lost between the kids and it didn't make any difference to the boys at Bell. Knox players were the only one's that needed to even the score. Coach Mills loved those kids at Knox and I'm sure it wouldn't have been easy for him to have to coach against them the very next year or two. The loyalty at Knox now lies with Russell and a couple years have let the kids that were loyal to Mills move on. It will be a great rivalry to rekindle and I also will be glad to see the two back at it again. It will make for some good local smash mouth football.

Good to see they'll be playing. Hearing there will be no Knox/HC game though because Knox has already informed them, they won't be playing.

Knox will be playing Prestonburg though next year.

I cant believe Knox isnt playing Harlan Co, so much for competitve games. Why would Knox not play Harlan Co, seems a natural rivaly and pretty close. Which team is scared to play each other, Harlan or Knox?

HC is willing

So Knox is scared, how do the Knox fans feel or are they scared to answer?
HC fans have spoken, they are ready to keep playing.

Well, Instigator, fans have no say so over who is scheduled. Their could be a number of reasons for no HC-Knox game. Maybe Knox just wants a fresh opponent, maybe they couldnt agree with HC on the terms of the deal, maybe they don't want to make a drive to HC, maybe they don't want to play up classes, or maybe they just don't want to play HC. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the KC football team, or fans being scared.

I don't think either team is scared to play. I think you need to grow up before you post something on here. these types of post are of no benefit to anyone.

I agree! Scott is a Harlan Co man. He will try to continue the series if at all possible.

Word is, Knox has chosen not to continue the series.

I don't know who chose not to play HC. But I can promise you not a single player, fan, or coach has any fear of HC. And win lose or draw this year that will always be the case. Schedules change... that is football.

Why drop them? 1 hour away. Huge gate. Why?

Then Knox should continue playing and not run.
