Who wins the 15th 2011
#1
I know its early, who returns the best team?
#2
It will be between Johnson Central and Lawrence County once again. I dont know what East Ridge has in the way of returning pitching. I never saw anyone pitch for them accept Connelly. JC will return Sara Williams and Grace Mills to the mound and LC will have Kendra Horn.
#3
I dont know about winning the region, but Pikeville should field a good team next year, having only lost two senoirs. The pitching has improved and is getting better.
#4
Lawrence County, Pikeville, and East Ridge should be the frontrunners.
#5
ER returns their entire team except Conley and right fielder Bentley. Conley is a major loss. Senior to be 1st baseman(I dont know her name} threw several varsity games last year and was fairly effective. ER should be an offensive giant with McCarty, Mullins, Epling, and Rowe returning; all All-District last year. Fields should return after being injured all last year. Two years ago she was the statisticial offensive leader on the team. I dont know how the ACL will effect her.

You people have to consider Paintsville in there. They beat JC and LC this past season at Tourny time. They only lost three Seniors, which they have young players ready to take over at those spots. Castle is a HUGE loss. But, they had ZERO..Juniors on this team. Besides those Seniors, everyone else was Soph and below and their starting pitcher (57th Dist. Tourny MVP) was just a freshman. If they are overlooked..they will end up doing what they did last year and maybe even more. NOW they KNOW they can beat these "Top" teams.

I agree with Off The Hook. Paintsville should be considered. What did Magoffin loose?
#8
Lady Hornets only lose two starting Seniors in catcher Cassandra Salyer and left fielder Lindsey Howard. The upcoming season looks promising for the Lady Hornets retuning 7 starters and plenty of talent to fill the gaps.
The 57th District looks really good for 2011. I see once again the 15th Regional Champ coming from the 57th.
#9
I think Central,Magoffin and Lawrence will be the teams to beat. Pitching will make the difference and would be the reason Central and LC are the front runners. Magoffin has really made great strides in the past few years.
#10
Magoffin will be fielding one of the top Pitchers in the 15th region this year, along with the best lead off hitter in the region.
Look for them to make some serious noise in the district and the region!
#11
and who might this kid be and why hasnt anyone heard about him?
#12
You probably haven't heard about him ; because it is a HER!
Thus the name Girls Fast Pitch Softball.
#13
I agree with tricky I think they will upset a few teams this year.
#14
I watched Central, Magoffin and Lawrence’s recent matches. Really a man can only dream, until it becomes a reality. Overall all teams were outstanding. Of course pitching was quite impressive.
#15
@HOMER: I’m a diehard fan of both, Magoffin and Lawrence and really appreciate their way of pitching and striving back in the most outrageous way.
#16
Should be a really exciting season to watch 15th Region Softball.

Lawrence lost 5 seniors and 3 assistant coaches off last years team... That's ALOT of leadership to replace at once, not only on but off the field.

I'd say JC has the best team returning but who knows whats going to happen. I wouldnt sleep on Magoffin this year either.
#18
Mills now goes to paintsville so lemaster wont have to shoulder the whole load now.
#19
i hope to see lc back up there.. maybe not winnning. but certainley a threat

Why are they not coming out?
#26
Matt Walls is taking over at Pikeville, and with the talent they have returning and the addition of a solid coach, I believe Walls with have a very good first year. Good enough to overcome the Ridge and 57th? We will see.
#27
The LC fans won't have many chances to see the team play in 2011. They have 25 away games and 9 home games.
