According to economists Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez, someone making two hundred thousand dollars a year and someone making two hundred million dollars a year pay at similar tax rates. Lebron James and Lebron James's dentist...same difference. This makes no sense...there's a deep divide between the professional and the plutocratic classes, and the tax system should reflect that. Our system sets the top bracket at $375,000, with a tax rate of 35%. People in the next highest bracket, starting at $172,000 for individuals, pay 33%. For a further reading into this issue, the current issue of The New Yorker has an article by James Surowiecki.
