Great hire. The kids love Jesse and the current staff. He’ll stick with the same system these kids have been running since they were in elementary school. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

A great person who will give it everything he has. And he'll have a stellar staff to help him.

I like the hire. I think Coach Matney would approve of this decision. Man who knows the program in and out and will continue to lead the boys from the mountains.

Great hire. I think he'll give it all he's got.

I don’t know Coach Peck at all but I wish him and the Golden Eagles the best of luck going forward, hopefully he can build on what Coach Matney started and sustain JC’s success.

Jesse was a senior when I was a freshman.... he wrestled 275 lbs., I wrestled 112 lbs. I say that because even in high school, Jesse felt like a head coach.... he was our leader. Everybody looked to Jesse for guidance.

In any specialized detail in the military/law enforcement/fire service, the leaders job is to lead their crew well enough that they don't need a leader.... I can say with confidence that Matney led his coaches well enough that in their time of need, they didn't need to be led.

Now that a leader has been chosen, Jesse will lead.

I think this is a really solid hire. Jesse is a Johnson Central guy through and through. I read on WSIP that Peck’s grandfather was JC’s very first head football coach Bruce Howard. Pretty incredible that Jesse is following in his footsteps all these years later. He will also continue Matney’s legacy of teaching these kids hard nosed, power running football.

Jesse Ray has been an assistant at JC since 2013 I believe. He has been the Defensive Coordinator the last few years. He was the head coach at Phelps before taking his knowledge back to his old stomping grounds of JC.

Great man, great coach, great hire. I went to college with Coach Peck and will tell you that I don't know if I've ever known a better man. Very happy to hear this news today and look forward to following the continued success of the JC program.

I don't know this guy either, but I'm thrilled that everybody from Johnson Central seems very pleased with the hire!!

Jesse was a senior on Bill Musick's last team at Johnson Central, which posted an undefeated regular season record. At one time, he was the fifth-ranked wrestler nationally in his weight class.

I am glad to see JC promote from within. Jesse has been given an opportunity to enjoy a long, successful career at his alma mater.

Great hire in my opinion and I wish Coach Peck, the staff, and everyone around the program nothing but success.

Best choice we could have made.

Great hire...I think he will do great...

Great Hire, I think they made the right decision

I think this is a safe but solid hire. Coach Peck has a good understanding of the program and he will no doubt carry on the tradition that Matney built.

Sounds like a good logical hire. I'd go with the guy that would make the least amount of changes.
