Perhaps the most entertaining game of the night. Back and forth with trick plays and a last second shot to win by DH that comes up short.

The fans got their moneys worth this evening.
Dixie may have broken a penalty record for illegal procedure and false starts ( atleast 10-12 ). Discipline and Dixie continue to struggle.
Enjoyed #6 Elijah Bell who was the difference in the game for HC. Kick return for a TD and a couple more rushing TDs as well. Only a junior, if he stays healthy and continues to improve, we should see him on Saturdays.
HCs team speed was significant advantage. Turnovers kept Dixie close, and a couple defensive stops allowed Dixie to take the lead 50-49 (went for 2 after a score to do so ). Only problem was 2:00 left on the clock.
HC drove the field at will and scored on a well called reverse pass to a wide open #5 Austin Black.
Dixie didn't give up...they gave themselves a chance with a last second pass from around the 20 which was deflected out the backside of the endzone.
Dixie is a few good assistant coaches, a good marine corp drill sergeant to teach discipline, and some depth to replace the kids who take plays off too frequently. The rest of their hard working teammates deserve better. Their capable of being a .500 or better squad next season.
I believe HC will play Scott Co. who beat Ryle this evening. Congrats to HC on the win and best wishes to Dixies seniors!

Sounds like this was a great game. I honestly didn't think this game would be as close as it was. Sounds like Dixie shot theirselves in the foot!
Congrats Blue Devils!

Henry Clay used a flea flicker that eventually resulted in junior quarterback Sammy Carter firing his fifth touchdown pass of the game, a 29-yarder to junior Austin Black with 40 seconds remaining for a 57-50 win over Dixie Heights in a first-round Class 6A playoff game on Friday night at Dixieâs Rice Mountjoy Stadium.
Dixie (3-8), which had rallied from a 42-21 deficit to take a 50-49 lead with 2:12 remaining, drove to the Henry Clay 27 in the waning seconds before sophomore quarterback Drew Moore threw four straight incompletions, including the final one into the end zone as time expired.
Moore led a Dixie offense that piled up 681 yards on 89 offensive plays by rushing for 201 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries and completing 16 of 38 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns.
It was his touchdown pass to senior Casey Cox, who had seven receptions for 127 yards, on fourth-and-goal from the Henry Clay 18 that got Dixie within 49-48 with 2:12 remaining and set the stage for the Colonels to take the lead. Dixie head coach Dave Brossart opted to attempt the two-point conversion, which junior running back Darion Washington completed successfully with a run off right guard to put the Colonels up 50-49. Washington finished with 175 yards rushing on 27 carries.
Henry Clay (5-6), which rolled up 543 yards on only 40 offensive plays, used a pass interference penalty and a 33-yard completion from Carter to junior running back Davion Jackson to move the ball to the Dixie 31.
Four plays later, Jackson took a direct snap from center, ran to his left and pitched it to Carter running behind him to his right.
Carter, who entered the game having passed for just 694 yards and five touchdowns on the season, pulled up after taking the pitch and threw to a wide-open Black in the front right corner of the end zone for the touchdown. Carter completed 16 of 21 passes for 393 yards and five touchdowns, three of which went to sophomore Colby Barnes, who entered the game with just 17 receptions for 270 yards and two touchdowns on the season, but finished with eight catches for 170 yards in the game.
âThatâs something we hadnât seen, the flea flicker like that,â said Brossart. âI have to give them credit. They caught us off guard and we fell for it.â
Still, Brossart had nothing but praise for his young team, which persevered Friday despite having four players suspended, including two starters, for violating unspecified team rules.
âWeâre down 21 points to a terrific team thatâs loaded with athletes and our defense played so much better in the second half and our kids on offense made plays,â said Brossart. âOur kids just played so hard and played their butts off all night long and Iâm just so proud of them.â
Henry Clay junior Elijah Bell, who entered the game having rushed for 1,711 yards and 15 touchdowns on only 157 carries, rushed for only 106 yards on 11 carries, but he had a 65-yard touchdown run, an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with 1:24 left in the first half that put Henry Clay up 35-21 at halftime, and took a screen pass 83 yards for a touchdown with 6:10 remaining in the game to give his team a 49-42 lead.
Moore accounted for all 82 offensive yards on Dixieâs next drive (54 rushing and 28 passing) that resulted in the Colonels going up 50-49.
âThe last two weeks against Cooper and Ryle were tough ones offensively, but I told him weâre going to focus on this game and running the football,â said Brossart. âWe worked on his scrambling skills this week and he made play after play.
âHe threw some great balls. The kids are believing in Drew Moore. Heâs grown up so much and heâs going to be somebody to worry about over the next two years.â
