I've heard and read on another site that it's simply a rumor being started by a family member and Chane is still a solid commit to UC.

Just found this in the bgdailynews.com sports section.....

Purples coach D.G. Sherrill told the Daily News this morning that Behanan - who committed to the University of Cincinnati last summer - wants the chance to look at all possible options.[/b]

.....Sherrill said. “He still wants to consider Cincinnati as a place he could possibly go and it’s still at the top of his list.

“He just wants to open it back up to see all the options available.”

“He still feels very strongly about Cincinnati, but there are some other schools that might pique his interest if he was able to be recruited by them.”

While Cincinnati still maintains a lofty position in Behanan’s eyes, Sherrill said the decision to de-commit was solely based on the fact that he wishes to go through a true recruiting process. Behanan doesn’t want to miss any opportunities.

“Colleges respect that verbal commitment, so what he’s done is he wants to see who else is interested - he doesn’t want to close any doors this early in the game and really weigh his options,” Sherrill said. “These other schools aren’t really going to go and be aggressive with you because you verballed so early. He wants to take a step back, take a breath and see what’s available to him as he goes forward.

“He’s trying to refocus his decision and see who else out there is willing to make an offer and really go through this process. He’s never really been through the process before and really doesn’t want to miss any opportunities.”

To clear this whole mess up, bearcatlair (UC's rivals site) has published this FREE story:

.............When contacted via text message earlier in the day after published reports started to surface, Behanan told BearcatLair.com's Todd Cunningham that he was in fact still 100% committed to the Bearcats and that reports to the contrary are simply not true.

So how can so many different media outlets all be wrong?

Behanan along with his mother Heaven Warren recently moved to Bowling Green Kentucky and with that move came 2 new adult influences in Behanan's life that may or may not have the kids best interests at heart.

If you read the stories about Behanan's supposed decommitment they all have one thing in common. There are no quotes from Behanan or his mother saying that he had decided to decommit. The only people quoted in all of those stories are either his mother's uncle Bill Jackson or Behanan's new high school coach DG Sherrill from Bowling Green High School.

Where are the comments from Behanan or his mother Heaven Warren saying that he was no longer verbally committed to UC? They are nowhere to be found because Jackson and Sherrill both have their own agenda when it comes to Behanan's recruitment.

Up until as recent as a few weeks ago both Behanan and his mother were the only ones that would talk about his recruitment. Now we were told today, after trying to reach Behanan's mother, that anyone that wanted to speak to either Behanan or his mom had to talk directly to Jackson because he is the one running Behanan's recruitment now. Jackson has went as far as turning off Behanan's cell phone as of Monday evening making it impossible for anyone to contact Behanan directly.

Lost in the circus of it all, (trust me Behanan's recruitment is becoming a circus because of the actions of Jackson) is what the kid wants.

It is very clear to us that what Behanan wants more than anything is to become a Bearcat. No matter what others may be saying or reporting Behanan is still verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati basketball program. How are we so sure? Behanan himself told us so prior to his phone being turned off on Monday.

This makes me think VERY LOW of Bowling Green's coach. Why make comments about a KID that aren't true, simply because you have your own agenda? I just lost a lot of respect for him.
