I heard Randy McCoy's name mentioned by someone close to the program. I'm surprised by this, if true, but you can never tell...

Will be interesting to see what happens with this job!

May sound crazy, but, who is Randy McCoy?

I thought the name sounded familiar. Surely to goodness they have not fired Raymond Justice who went 22-8 and district champs two years in a row for Randy McCoy who went 10-17 last year and lost in their first round of their district. They have fired one of the best coaches in Eastern Kentucky and will not find anybody any better than him as a replacement.

Justice was one of his assistants at Pikeville College, that would be ironic

I was told that it would be the University Heights coach, and I thought that meant Randy McCoy... But apparently it is the person who coached UH before McCoy, and he (I'm told) is a relative of the LCC AD. Not sure of his name, but some of you may know. Sorry for the confusion.

They may find someone better to coach, but I wonder if they thought about his son that "CAN REALLY PLAY THE GAME". He is going to be something special and I would hate to lose him too. But looks like Coach Trent is looking more and more the choice at Knott Central, since everyone else is turning them down. If I were Trent I would stay at Letcher where it looks like he is wanted, they have offered the Knott job to everyone in the nation but him and they have all declined, surely he don't want to be a last resort.
Is Coach Spurlock interested in this job? He has had some success in the 14th region and the troops are very unhappy at Clay, may be time for him to make a run for the 14th where he can win.

It is hard to say, but I wish they would hurry.

Give the job to Trent before Knott Central offers him that job! :1:

Hold the phone, not so fast!! There is a new name on the horizon. Coach Hammonds from West Jessamine has been contacted and for $30,000 increase in salary will find it hard to turn down. Probably be between Coach Jackson of Lincoln and Coach Hammonds of West Jessamine, with Coach Trent being a third choice in waiting. Good luck to whoever they get. Just glad to see they are looking at guys that can really do a good job with the kids. Both of these above mentioned have state tourney experience and will work hard.

I agree with you. AC has the right person in front of her but seems to be playing the same game as KIM. I think that KC is making a mistake in not giving the job to Trent but Kim is determined to get a "big name" coach. I think that Trent would be a perfect fit for either program because he knows the game and would work harder than anyone to build a long term program. You can look a coach that has won 10 regional titles and somewhere along the line someone gave him a start and he took it from there.
LC HAS THE RIGHT PERSON WALKING THEIR HALLS EVERYDAY.

I think when the dust settles and there are no big name coaches in Knott or Letcher counties Cavanaugh will be coaching at either LCC or KCC and the other Super will be sorry they did not hire him. I say give Trent the chance.

Sources say that Eddie Whitaker is wanting the job and Josh is wanting to come to LCC. Somebody please tell me why the water won't go under the bridge between him and Craft so they can come?

Why would Josh want to leave a team that he has been to Rupp with two years in a row that will be a favorite again next season for LCC?????

I will say this....Cavanaugh Trent deserves either the Knott or the LCC job. The boys will respond to Coach Trent. It is ashame that either school doesn't give this young man a shot. I say give him a shot, and there play will show you that the boys would run through a brick wall for him!

If Cavanaugh wants to be a head coach so bad, then why doesn't he apply at other places besides LCC and KCC? Sometimes you have to start at smaller schools with less tradition and move up the ladder with success. It takes moving around a little to do this sometimes. Look for J.D. Strange from Pineville to be named head coach or Jeff Jackson from Lincoln County if Strange doesn't take the job.

All I know is they are taking there time.
