Stat leaders were:
Scott County
Guyn 22 points
Jackson 19 points
Phares 26 points, 16 rebounds
Lexington Catholic
Sanford 28 points, 5 steals
Martin 17 points
This was an interesting game and a fun game to watch. Scott County played without their 6th man Ford due to an ankle injury earlier in the week. Manning also injured his ankle about midway through the 2nd quarter. With Manning and Ford on the bench and Jackson in early foul trouble, Scott County was left playing some kids at the guard spot that usually don't play a lot in tight games. The freshman Ivey played well in this capacity. The story of the game however was Sanford and Phares. LC had no answer for Phares and SC had an equally hard time with Sanford.
There was also a quite entertaining point about midway through the 3rd quarter. Phares went up for a shot and looked to be fouled. However, the official that had the best look called a held ball with LC getting the alternating position. The clock keeper apparantly forgot to change the arrow. Less than 30 seconds later there was another held ball and LC got the ball again. Hicks went nuts but the three officials refused to reverse the call and correct the arrow. Hicks called a timeout to get his point across but to no avail. It was pretty funny, even though my team was getting hosed. Strange things always happen in the SC/LC rivalry.

I'm alittle suprized by the score. Scott Co was proabley off a bit or Lex Catholic play very good. Losing your 5th and 6th player doesnt help, but Scott Co has alot of talent. If they go dont back to thier normal margin of victorys the next 2 games could mean something.

The close game doesn't surprise me at all. I predicted SC would win by 4. SC not only was playing without Ford, but Manning only played 12 minutes due to injury. The game really changed with the freshman Manning went out. Then when Jackson picked up his 3rd foul in the second quarter SC had a serious problem on the perimeter. SC played three kids in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter that usually don't play extended minutes in these type games. The freshman Ivey played pretty solid for SC.

What was up with Euton? Only 8 points?
02-15-2009, 07:09 PM
Euton did OK. He also had 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Euton didn't get a lot of shots but his rebounding and assists were key. The 2 3-pointers he hit were both huge.

With Euton not getting alot of shots, was this because of LC,did they play man with the person matching up on Euton have anything to do with this? If not what caused him to not get many shots?

SC has 4 good scorers. All three average between 13 and 19 points per game. Shots come to different players on different nights. Last night Phares, Guyn, and Jackson all had big scoring nights. Euton played a good floor game (5 assists and 8 rebounds). He seems to me to be a team player. Phares was dominating his man and kids were making an effort to get the ball to him.

I'm going to defend Euton a little bit here. Great players can help their teams in more ways than just scoring points. Scott County as has been said has a few different kids that can score. The fact that Euton didn't force the issue by taking shots in an effort to keep his scoring stats up speaks volumes about his character to me.
8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists is not a bad game.

that is not his normal game. He generally scores alot more than that. I personally dont know the boy, so I cant say anthing about his character.

I don't know him personally either. But the fact that he doesn't force shots just to get his points tells me all I need to know about his character on the court.

Well you know the way alot of people on here had built him up, I just figured that he would score way more than that on a nightly basis.
