I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 and it's a piece of crap! It's always messed up! Would you recommend Dell or another brand?

I have an eMachines laptop. Only messed up on me once, and then after about a day it's worked fine ever since.

I have an IBM ThinkPad laptop. It doesn't mess up, it has a big screen that shows everything VERY clearly, but just overall it runs really well. I also have a Compaq Presario and everyone says that Compaq's suck and stuff but mine hasn't gave me trouble.

Are emachines good computers? I've never mead of it.
What are some other good brands other than Dell, Compaq, and Gateway. I'll be getting a new one before I go to college and just wondering what to get.

I haven't had any real trouble out of my eMachine. Alienware computers are by-far the best I've seen though.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, a compaq desktop, and some sort of LG brand desktop. I also have plenty of old compaq monitors and towers that just need power supplies for them to work. They are just spares I have to mess around with.

One of my buddies has an alienware laptop and it's awesome. I don't know if they're good enough for the price, but I wouldn't mind having one.
