It is like $50 for the whole year. You can get montly cards that vary in price.
In order to use XBOX live you have to have a broadband internet connection. Cable or DSL. U will then need to have a router so that u can hook it up to ur computer's internet. When u purchase XBL, it tells u on the back the requirments.

I believe that is what it is for the year. I myself, have a 3 month subscription card. After it is up i am goin to get a whole year membership with a whole new account prolly.
