blame it on Gillespie

Sounds like it's going to get really ugly for Porter

If he did what they say he did, then he needs to pay the price.

Doesnt sound good for him. Hopefully it isnt true.

See it happens to all denominations, not just Catholics. It just doesn't get the media coverage. There have been several bible thumper-child humpers out there, you just don't publically hear about it.

I added Michael on Facebook a couple years ago just for kicks and he asked if I knew him personally.
I told him no but we exchanged some PMs and have done so pretty regularly...
I would have NEVER pegged the guy to be capable of something like this.
I pray it isn't true but it will all get sorted out soon.

Just read the article....
If this happened four years ago it is going to be a classic case of her word against his.

Isnt there a statute of limitations on the time frame of which this type of thing can be reported.
I know in some states you have to report something like this within five years, although, if the girls were underage that might not apply as everyday we hear a story of someone going to jail from molesting someone years ago.
I think it the statutes only apply if both persons were of age.
Either way it's going to be extremely hard for these people to prove anything.
#18
There is no statute of limitations on felonies in Kentucky. If it is just he said, she said, it will be hard to prove and a jury will most likely find him not guilty. If there are witnesses to them being together or going together somewhere and if there are incriminating text messages or talking on facebook, then he may be in trouble. Texting and facebook is what gets most people caught in these situations, this day and time.

For something like this it would be hard for him to convicted, however people see something about a sex crime and assume the worst without waiting for the facts to come out. His name is ruined because of this.

We're learning new details about the case against a former UK basketball player accused of having sex with an underage girl.

According to a Lexington Police search warrant, the teenaged girl claims she had sexual contact with Michael Porter after meeting him at a church function.

She also claims they talked about sex through Internet and phone conversations, and Porter sent her pictures of himself.

Police say they then set up a phone and text sting last week, which led to Porter's arrest.

Police say Porter admitted he got into sexual relationship with the girl because he was addicted to pornography.

He's pleaded not guilty.

This is why i hate todays media.
They convict people before the trial even starts.
Makes it impossible to have a fair trial in this country if your case is popular.

That makes it alright to have sex with an underage girl?

In this case, it doesn't appear that the media has gotten out of hand. It is a lot easier to catch sexual perps these days due to their ignorant use of cell phones, texting, and facebook. It appears that he may have admitted to some hanky panky.

Former University of Kentucky basketball player Michael Porter was arrested after a sting operation by Lexington police yielded evidence that he had oral sex with an underage girl, according to court documents.

When the former Wildcat was arrested by police at a home on Woodford Drive, he told officers he got involved in a relationship with the girl "because he was addicted to pornography," according to a search warrant obtained by the Herald-Leader. The information was first reported by WKYT-TV (Channel 27).

Porter, 25, was charged with multiple felony counts of sodomy and sex abuse last week. He has pleaded not guilty.

Porter is accused of engaging in sexual activity with the girl in 2009 and 2010, when she was 14 and 15. The victim, who was not named in the warrant, is now 17.

Porter and his attorney, Jim Lowry of Lexington, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to the warrant, Lexington police were notified about the allegations May 10 by a police detective in Nicholasville, who said he had evidence that Porter "has been engaging in sexual activity" with the teen.

The warrant says Lexington police detectives interviewed the girl May 14. She told detectives she met Porter at church functions, where Porter was a group leader.

"She went on to say he took her home from these functions" but stopped at a parking lot where "they would engage in oral sex," the warrant said.

The girl said she and Porter messaged each other on Facebook and would sometimes call and text each other.

"Though the conversations began benign, they eventually turned sexual in nature, as he would relay to her sexual things he would like to do," the warrant said.

The teen sent a "half-naked" picture of herself to Porter over an instant messaging program, the warrant said.

Several hours after the interview with the girl, police began a "phone/text sting," with Porter that yielded information which corroborated her statements, the warrant said, including that they had oral sex in her bedroom.

During the sting operation, Porter said he "wanted her to take more photos of herself because he had to delete the one she sent him," the warrant said.

Police went to Porter's house about 1:45 p.m. May 15, where he was interrogated and arrested. He corroborated the victim's statements and said he was addicted to pornography, the warrant said.

The warrant did not name the church where Porter met the girl, though Porter told the Herald-Leader in a 2009 interview that he and his wife, Bryana, were members of Southland Christian Church. The Porters have a daughter named Payslie.

The executive pastor at Southland has said Porter used to be a volunteer there, but he declined further comment.

Porter played in 90 games over three years at UK, averaging 2.7 points a game. He left UK with one year of eligibility remaining, saying he wanted to spend more time with his wife and family. He played one year for Tubby Smith and two for Billy Gillispie.

Porter is scheduled to return to district court for a preliminary hearing June 4.
