14th region fans

However, don't think for one minute that if the host school has a team in the tournament that they don't have a little advantage by having access to the referrees during the tournament. They take them their food and drink at halftime, shoot the bull with them before and after the games, and generally get to know them. It's a slight psychological effect if nothing else. Refs are human too. They respond to kindness and buttering up. If it just makes a difference in the 50/50 calls that could be enough to affect the outcome of a game.
Yes, being the host does have some advantages.

Of course it has it's advantages.
But what about this....
Region was at Breathitt this year with 15th Region Refs.
Would you think Breathitt has an advantage with the refs because of the things mentioned above.
Or would you think teams in our region like Letcher or Jenkins would have more of an advantage because of possible ties with 15th region refs that probably live right down the road from them.

I think the host school has more of the advantage due to their playing in a gym in which they practice every day and know the dead sponts in the floor or the sites to use when shooting a ball. Plus, it's their home gym. They are more comfortable there than they would be in some other team's gym. It has to be and advantage related to these facts if not the refs interventions.

I don't like the split sessions any more than anyone else, but in my opinion, no school should host the region every year!

Letcher was the first to start the split session two years ago. They should not be in the rotation. Facts are facts.

If the region goes to using the two largest gyms that is fine. If they continue to use Breathitt, Hazard and Powell, Letcher Central should still be used also. As far as the girls tournament goes, it had one of the largest attendance in years in the girls region. One of the reasons was the crowd support for Letcher Central and Knott Central. Both of them packed the house. Throw in the Perry Central crowd and the Breathitt fans(whose fan base was rather small for the success they have been having) and it made for a crowded tournament. They also did not use split sessions.

If the tournament is held at Perry Central every year. Allow other districts to host the tournament at that facility. PCC will have an advantage of the game being there every year so they should not be allowed to host. Hazard is out because they benefit from the tournament being only a mile away so they can rest and do not have to ride a bus no more then a mile. Allow Powell County and Breathitt County to be the host schools at PCC's gym. Allow Letcher Central and Knott Central to provide the hospitality room as their's is far superior to any other school's especially Hazard's TV dinners from Save-A-Lot and Perry Centrals leftover school cafeteria food.

Knott County is also just down the road from the 15th and may also have ties(They happen to be regional champions). It is rumored that Perry Central also has ties to the 16th region referees.

I do think that is the consensus opinion of most people. Most of the people complaining on here probably have a pass and do not pay to get in anyway.
