I actually contacted Brent Rose last week about doing that.
I had told Khristina that she and Jesse could call some of the games this season, but all rivalry games would be assigned. I actually thought I might have Johnny Webb to call the game tonight, but he ended up having to babysit. Tomorrow night I have Khristina and Lowell Parker.

This was for sure one of the better games that I've seen played at any level, and let's not take away from the game by going on about the refs. This game could have went either way but a couple of late turnovers and missed shots by Dorton may have been the difference. I was really impressed with the level of play from both teams but the player that stood out the most was the Caudill boy from Dorton as he has to be one of the most talented players in the region with what I saw tonight.

Actually that is the first time I have ever seen either of them. Doe Doe has started getting his referees assigned this season, so I know we'll have unbiased referees down there also. I'm not one to blame losing a game on referees. I think it makes people look weak. When teams lose, people always look to the referees first when sometimes they should look at their own players and the mistakes they made. We are used to Belter not getting any calls. Where he is so big, I think most referees have the idea that he doesn't need any help because he already has an advantage. It isn't fair, but he doesn't complain. He just has to get stronger and fight through it.
Good post. Those boys up there are lucky to have you as their coach.

Estil Bentley 2 points, 2 rebounds
For Virgie:
Dalton Richardson 19 points
Chandler Rowe 8 points

Corey Hamilton 3 points

With the kind of talent evident on both teams, all I can say is that the future looks VERY bright for Shelby Valley once all those kids get up there.

Tonight was a game between two very good teams. All the kids played very hard. I think it's very sad that people want to talk about the refs. The refs
did a good job of calling it both ways, yes they missed calls but they did it on both ends. My question is why would you single out a certain kid when your team loses? Basketball is a team sport that requires 5 at a time to play. I seen a lot of good things from both teams that doesn't go in the stat book.
I seen some kids play with a lot of heart. This was a great game, don't take this away from this group of young men that played their butts off. These young men are the future of SVHS. In the end we is always > than me

this was a hard fought game by both teams!!! Shelby Valley has a very nice future!!!! there was bad calls all night going against both teams and missed calls for both teams!!! can't blame the ref's for the final score!!!!

Sounds like a great game between 2 good teams. One thing about referees is that they are easy to blame. Looking at the stats, if you miss 20 shots and have 14 turnovers and lose by 3 then don't blame the refs unless they missed all 34 calls. DortonWildcat realizes this and that's why he doesn't blame them. If you play a perfect game and lose then maybe you can blame the refs. I don't understand why some of the refs under the basket watch the ball in the air instead of watching the action thats underneath. I wasn't at this game but I see this to much.

im goin 2 clear a couple things up.i was not the one who called the time out and we were down by 2 at the time.mason hit one free-throw and missed the next.it was a good game and wasnt 2 bad of a called game.both teams played very well and very hard.congrations 2 virgie on the close win.

I must agree that there were some not so good calls in this game but the bottom line is that it was a great game for the kids and I know that they will all learn something from this game.... Adrenalin got pretty high tonight on the floor and off, but that happens also, however we need to practice sportsmanship of a good nature in all situations... I'm sure that today has given everyone time to calm down and say GREAT JOB<BOTH TEAMS..... and yes I agree the Caudil boy was the player of this game and we all need to give credit to the efforts of the players..... Yes, WE is greater than ME, but sometimes a Me really shows his playing abilities and the confidence that a coach can instill in someone. ALL THE BOYS DID A GREAT JOB , Caudil also told my son after the game that it's a TEAM sport and BOTH teams proved that last night.... Congratulations EAGLES!!!! Congratulations WILDCATS. Both were winners !!!!!!!!!

no matter how much ball has changed, a foul is a foul.
I agree, but officials are letting all teams get away with hip checks on the perimeter, knocking people down in the passing lanes, and almost unreal physical play in the post.
Belter and Ethan Blackburn from Johns Creek are so big that get 0 calls in the post...........my 6'2" center from last year got more.
The 15th is lacking in quality officials, BADLY, but we have to be patient with some of the newer guys because hopefully they will become solid in the future.

I agree. I thought Jesse did a very good job against Virgie's press, and was a big reason Dorton had a chance at the end. I also liked that he was aggressive in taking the ball to the basket...
