Best I remember Mike Hogg, Schyler Sexton, Cody Adams, Eli Warren, and Cam Wright were the starters at the end of that first year. Aron Banks, Devin blair, Charlie banks, and Malachi Longworth came off the bench. The 2nd year the starters were Devin Blair, Mike Hogg,Dustin Adams, Cody Adams, and Malachi. In the 3rd year the starters were Charlie, Devin, Josh P, Jordan, and Mal. (sometimes Eric Ison). This year it has been Cole Cornett, Charlie, Devin, Josh P, and Jordan (sometimes Eric). Anything else you need to know Rooster?

He has took only LC boys and made them into Region contenders....and whoever up there said most of those loses weren't close, apparently can't READ! They majority were very close, even a few OT games...

I said they weren't close. Out of the 10 games, only 3 were within 5 points, including the win. Don't get me wrong, I want LCC to win, they're my school, but I don't think 2-9 against the top 3 teams in the region is exactly good. And, I also agree, Justice did take a group of kids that were from Letcher Co., nowhere else, and made them winners, and that is an accomplishment in itself. Still think I can't read?Rolleyes

PCC is the largest school.

I disagree with Brian Milam that it is in their head. They beat JBS in the most pressured first round district game situation last year. They lost to PCC in the region with an atrocious shooting night by 5 on PCC's homecourt. All games were close, and the belief that confidence is shaken is hogwash.

When regional tourney time comes, they will have the least pressure of the 4 contenders and it will benefit them.

As far as the struggles of a consolidated school, it has nothing to do with this year's team. This team has played together and will not wilt under pressure from an isolated few discontents.

I am proud of Coach Justice, staff, and most importantly his players.

Well said UK#1. Well said

Well I'm sure he would have told Garrison Collins to go home if he would have wanted to come to LCC. LCC has tried for players like everyone else problem is they just havent gotten any. KCC players are all Knott County boys. Whats his record against KCC the last three years? I looked i think its 5 loses and 2 wins. He the best coach in the district?

Those are great numbers and reflect the achievements being made in the program. Great win for Hazard, you Dawg's are going strong. IMO this confirms for me that the Cougar's will not get over the hump this year. It is a great season but the big games have not went very well. Still may be an upset to come but it likely will not go far after that. Keep on diggin LCC.

Please do not misundersand, I AM NOT RIPPING COACH JUSTICE!!! I am not dogging what he has done with the program. Show me where I said something negative about the job performance of Coach Justice. He has done a wonderful job in Ermine.
Now to the counterpoint. You win or you lose. Period. That's why we play the games. So, if you count the KCC win in 2008, then you have to count the loss to that same KCC team so the tally goes to 2-10 on that sample I posted.
I agree that if Hazard and KCC didn't have some of their additions they would not be as good. Whitaker, Warren, Cox, etc. makes a huge difference. That is a fact! But, so is winning and losing. I am just stating what is in black and white. If a team does lose to the same schools over and over, whether it's by 5 or 50, it does get a player wondering and shaking their head a bit. How many of those who played still talk about games years later. "Gosh, we were better than those teams and they still beat us." I think we all hear that quite often from a lot of former athletes.
As for having the "least pressure of the 4 contenders", that is "hogwash"!!! You win or go home for good! That is a lot of pressure! C'mon, think about that. If you are a senior, and LCC has five of them, and you lose will never play again. Ever! The same goes for the other teams in the region. :thanks:

Seniors:
Eli Warren - 6'2" best athlete in 14th (Breathitt Co. team went 24-6 his junior yr.)
Alex Williams - 6'0" (Letcher) - quit (24 ppg. his junior year at LHS)
Cam Wright - 6'3" (Whitesburg) (20 ppg. his junior year at WHS)
Adam Sexton - 6'2" (Letcher) - quit (starter for LHS)
Montana Gibson - 6'1" (Letcher) - quit (starter for LHS)
Dawell Robinson - 6'3" (Neon) - quit (excellent athlete could jump out of gym)
Brandon Craft - 6'5" (Neon) - quit (bear in the middle, probably went 230 lbs)

*Letcher High School beat Cordia 70-65 the year before, and destroyed Jenkins in the district tournament 69-41. LCCHS lost to Jenkins in the regular season and to Cordia in the district tournament a year later. Coach Justice has done a good job, but LCC had quite a bit of talent that first year.

Congrats to the Dawgs. Does anyone know how Big Al is doing?

lets leave amburgey off this list because he cant be compared to raymond justice until he goes to a sweet 16. he has beat him twice this year but he wouldnt win with knott county centrals team

Um, IDC how great the coach is they can't win if they don't have the team to back up their coaching (this is a general statement and in no way directed at LCC).

Amburgey obviously can be compared to Justice because he HAS beaten him twice, KCC won so get over it.

And if I'm not mistaken.. this thread is about LCC and Hazard. So let's keep it that way  .

Garrison Collins lives in Letcher County...so what if he wanted to come to LCC. He lives like 10 minutes from the school! Check what yal say before you say it! That don't even make sence! We said that Justice did it with LC boys...Garrison is a LC boy, that didn't even come to our school!!!

Yeah, but he considered transferring to KCC, I was there, he came and visited.
