Pulaski County 21 Bell County 8 (Scrimmage)
#1
Varsity part of it was close to 21-8. Thoughts?

Decent scrimmage as far as scrimmages go, pretty pedestrian play calling on both sides it seemed.

Pulaski looked ok once they settled in especially on defense, however if they don't get their penalties in check it will cost them some games this year.

Bell County will be ok wasn't the same Bell I'm used to seeing a lot more balance in offense than normal which I think bodes well for them going forward.

Let’s not leave out the fact that Pulaski called 4 timeouts with about 20 seconds left of varsity play to punch in the last score. Good confidence booster I guess? Either way pretty even scrimmage throughout, both teams will get much better throughout season

I thought you only got 3 timeouts in a half. Bell County did the same thing to tie the score in the 3rd quarter before PC did but agree with your post. Both teams will get better because of that scrimmage.

There was 5 changes of possessions in the last 4 ish minutes of that quarter. Both teams tried to go no huddle and quickly resulted in two bell county turnovers (fumble and TOD), one pulaski turnover (int), and two pulaski touchdowns. One of the two touchdowns was a deep ball on a backup corner who was so out of position i don’t know if he even seen the receiver.

Bell has to get the like figured out asap. Still subbed a lot and one lineman left early with injury, but that doesn’t excuse the QB running for his life every play. If the line can even be average i see this team being very good. I would love to see the score when burnett isn’t on his back in 1-2 seconds cause of mental mistakes up front.

Pulaski was right even with bell and would make a mistake here and there that would result in a punt. RB is a beast and really set up the pass right at the end of the scrimmage cause all 11 defenders thought he was getting the ball. Him, denmeyer, and a few others make this team dangerous. I’m going to say the offense was almost 50/50 run or pass which makes it even more impressive.

I like this game as a scrimmage for both teams as they can take some positives and some negatives. Best of luck to both.

You are correct, you are missing the point. Point is they used every timeout they had to try and add an extra score. Yes Bell county had a reason to as they were down at the time. Just didn’t see the reasoning behind doing it to add an extra score when you already “won” the scrimmage. But yes we can agree on something, as I said scrimmage was near even the whole game from what I saw and both will get much better as season progresses.

Can Pulaski Co. play Beechwood tough?

I think the point of scrimmages are to work on in game scenarios. I doubt very seriously Pulaski's intent was to run up the score on Bell, rather than take the opportunity to work on a 2 minute type drill for late in the game.

I like the way you are thinking. I would be working on anything I could against a team like Bell in a scrimmage to hold you accountable. Two good teams right there.

Agreed, I saw rotations of players by both teams and decisions I felt weren’t made to try to “win” a scrimmage. Both teams seemed to at times use the opportunity to get work & looks at different players and situations. After all that is what good coaches use scrimmages for
