Why has the khsaa not implemented a half circle under the basket like college has? This is by far the most missed call in high school, and most of them can be prevented. But most importantly, it's a safety issue for the kids. I've saw a ton of times this year, where a kid is already in the air and a player slides over under him, and still gets the charge call. 90% of the charges called, are directly under the basket. Still don't understand how any ref at any level, could call a charge on anyone while the defender is directly under the goal. That's how unnecessary injuries occur. Just wondering what everyone elses thought are on this.

And 75 % of charges called are actually blocking calls regardless of where they r on the court.

Doesn't the KHSAA have to follow the rules of the National Federation of High School Associations?

I wouldn't think so, since some states have shot clocks and others don't. But I honestly don't know.

As always, your local officials' organization is always looking for new referees.
If no one around here can make the calls and you can... By God, you should be wearing a whistle.

With or without the arc....90% of the time this call should be a block like it was in the good ol'days.

I understand playing defense under the basket is not really playing defense, hence the arc in college basketball. But until it is implemented in high school, it is still LEGAL to set up under the basket, so coaches teach it to draw charges.
It has been suggested for the last couple of years and has gotten more votes each year, maybe it will be this coming years change or even the year after, but it is coming soon, until then, kids will continue to do it and it will continue to be taught until its changed. As an official, you can not just not call it because you think it should be, you have to call it by the book rule and it says its still legal.
