Max Smith is out indefinitely. Red Shirt is coming off Patrick Towles and he will be the back up QB to Jalen Whitlow

Hate to hear about Smith injury. Patrick might bring this club around.

wow, im surprised they took the red shirt off, i still dont think it would have happened had Towles not complained.
I fully expect Towles to be in the next game.

Honestly it would be better for the program in the long run if towels redshirted. but you have to have a backup i suppose.

Why did Towles sign with UK? Now, because of UK's ineptness, he will lose the redshirt year. He should have gone to a real college program. Smith's injury means nothing. They can lose without him as well as with him.

It makes no sense to play Towles, we all know that this season is a wash....I can't wait for it to be over.

I agree, however, from the articles on the situation, Towles and his daddy were crying about it, so in this case, let him waste a year, its there own fault. You know Joker doesnt have the nuts to say no.

Unfortunate news about Smith, I thought he played well this season...especially with the hurry up, they should use more of that.

While I understand your thinking, I think it makes a lot of sense for Towles to play this season, particularly if this season is a wash. Expectations should be low as he has been running the scout team since preseason. If Joker thinks him playing can help this year's team, he owes it to his seniors to play Towles. You can't throw them under the bus to help the team that will hit the field in 2016. If he's going to fairly compete for the starting job the next Spring and Summer, let's give him some real experience against SEC teams. I'm sure he's going to get beat around, but he has to play against SEC teams at some point. Plus, if he does win the starting job next season, I'll feel a lot better going into the first game if he has experience from this year under his belt. While I understand the desire to have 4 full years of eligibility, we are talking about Towles losing eligibility in 2016! With all the young players we have this year getting experience, we could end up being pretty good the next couple of years. If Towles is the starting QB on those teams, I want him to be as good as possible. And getting experience this year would help that. If Towles does get beat out by Smith and Whitlow next year, he can redshirt then. Besides, the kid wants to play now. Let him if it helps the team or him this year.
