First game of the season for both teams. Neither team has a senior and Shelby County only has 5 high school age players.
MLC by 5
MLC by 30+. This will not be a close one. Shelby will struggle to compete this year. Hopefully, they can build for the future.

I agree with your prediction. Shelby County will be lucky to get the ball up the floor half the time this year. Shelby County will struggle this year but they do have a lot of young players and a good coach and could compete in the future. Aaliyah Wells and Leeara Cardwell should dominate in this game.
Collins win their 1st Girls Basketball game in a big way at home.
MLC by 15. Whoever designed this new school split made sure Shelby County got the short end of the stick.

That is not true. Shelby West Middle School, which is MLC's feeder school, has always had way better athletics than Shelby East. This year, they actually moved students from MLC's district to Shelby County's district, giving Shelby County more students. The culture on the west side of Shelby County (MLC district) is a whole lot different than the east side of the county (Shelby County's district). In Shelby County, all of the athletes have always came from Shelby West. Most of Shelby County's great players such as Mike Casey, A.J. Slaughter, Antonita Slaughter, and Charlotte Marshall lived in the west side of the county. Even Darryl Hicks went to Shelby West. Every player that started for both the boys and girls basketball teams last year went to Shelby West. With the split, kids on the east side of the county get the chance to play in high school. The split has nothing to do with where the athletes live.

Shelby County should improve in the next couple of years with the great coaching staff they have.
