This is a great short and to the point political ad. I have no idea what the breakdown is between Republican lawyers and Democratic lawyers in the US Senate, but I suspect that there are too many lawyers in both parties.

What is the point of having so many lawyers in Congress when they are too busy to read the legislation on which they are voting anyway? I will not vote against a candidate simply because he or she is a lawyer, but all else being equal, I will vote for the candidate who is not a lawyer every time.

Some of the greatest people that I have known have been lawyers but none of them have been politicians.

I credit two attorneys for my business writing skills. I used to negotiate and draft coal leases, default notices, etc. I saw a lot of red ink (their suggested revisions) early in my career but I eventually became a pretty fair writer.

I cannot imagine a competent lawyer signing a piece of legislation like Obamacare without even reading it - and then laughing in public when a voter suggested that they should have read it before voting. I don't think such lawyers would be able to practice long in the private sector before being disbarred.
