In this 8th grade game GC ran the wishbone to perfection and the LC defense had a hard time with the speed. Poor tackling by the LC defense was also a problem. On the offensive side LC moved the ball well and I was impressed with their 2 minute drill in which they scored. Had they made 2 earlier 2 point conversions this would have made it a 6 point game. Morgan O'Brian, Noah Lambert and Cole Mccreary all scored for LC. Grant Kiser connected with tightend Luke Schaeffer on several crucial pass plays.
Was a really fun game to watch. Lots of offense. The defenses for both teams weren't that bad its just both teams played really well on the offensive end.
Only 1 turnover in the game with Greenup giving the ball up on a drive deep into LC territory. GC scored early on a nice halfback pass from Reese Dillon to Kyle Cochran that went for 50ish yards. Reese then went out with an injury for the game and it was impressive GC's backfield didn't miss a beat. Lawson and Marsh ran for a ton of yards with Matt having a real nice kickoff return to start the 2nd half.
#28 for LC is a fine rb and really got it going in the 2nd half. LC's qb, #7 i think, also can really throw the ball. He has really good touch for an 8th grader. He completed quite a few passes and had several that were just dropped. He is going to be a good one.
Lots of good football players coming up at both these schools.
Big matchup next Saturday Sept. 18 Greenup County at Johnson County.
