Newport Central Catholic
Coach: Eddie Eviston (first season)

Last year: 7-6 (lost 23-10 to DeSales in third round)

Players to watch: Senior RB/LB Chris Kelly; senior WR/LB Jake Cain; senior WR/DB Brian Doyle; junior QB/DB Brady Hightchew; senior OL/DL Jack Gruenschlaeger.

Other key players: Senor OL Jake Giesler; senior LB Kyle Tallon; senior LB Brennan Daunt

Outlook: Five starters return on offense and seven on defense return for the Thoroughbreds and their new coach.

The skill positions will be a strength for the team on both sides of the ball, while the lines on each side of the ball are the biggest question marks.

Holy Cross
Coach: Bruce Kozerski (32-37)

Last year: 6-6 (lost 28-20 to DeSales in second round)

Players to watch: Senior WR Josh Jasper; junior WR Kyle Fuller; senior LB Chad Fuller; senior QB Jerry Arlinghaus.

Other key players: Senior WR Noah Knochelmann; junior TE/LB Adam Kozerski; junior S Justin Kohake.

Outlook: Only two full-time starters return on both sides of the ball, but there are several talented players who were part of the rotation last year.

Arlinghaus threw for 550 yards as a part-time quarterback last year, and will transition into a starter this season.

Defensively, Kozerski hopes the team will be able to stop the run and force teams to throw if the Indians are to make a run in the playoffs.

Lloyd
Coach: Roy Lucas (67-79 overall, 59-57 at Lloyd)

Last year: 4-7 (lost 55-29 to Christian Academy-Louisville in first round)

Players to watch: Senior TE/DE Jon Danks; senior OL Ben Blankenship; sophomore QB Dexter Smith; sophomore RB Dillon Smith.

Other key players: Senior OL/DL Charles Jouett; senior WR/LB Anthony Tolle; senior OL Lou Woods; senior OL David Williams; senior LB Jacob Buckner.

Outlook: Danks is the only returning starter at a skill position on offense, but the Juggernauts will have an experienced offensive line to block for the young Smith twins in the backfield.

The defense is in the same type of situation, returning only three starters and having a completely new backfield.

This will be a bigger team than Lloyd's had recently, but there is some inexperience to overcome.

Newport
Coach: Nick Rice (2-9)

Last year: 2-9 (lost 55-8 to DeSales in first round)

Players to watch: Senior QB/LB Demetri Brown; senior WR/CB Brandon Carter; senior WR/S Quin McDay; senior WR/CB Dionte Glenn; senior OL DiNikko Waller; senior OL Jaimie Waechter.

Other key players: Senior RB Melvin Calhoun; junior WR Rob Washington; senior LB Jake Whaley; senior DL Justin Roberts; Senior DL Daryl Lynch

Outlook: Brown, who threw for 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns and ran for 700 yards and eight touchdowns, leads an explosive offense that returns eight starters.

Carter, McDay and Glenn form not only an impressive trio at receiver, but also defensively where the Wildcats return nine starte
