Game 1 of the 57th District Tourney is Monday May 24th @ 7pm. The game is Lawrence Co -vs- Paintsville.... This is the play in game.... I look for LC to throw Moore, while Paintsville should throw Lyons... So whats ever thoughts.

The Tourney is @ Lawrence Co this year.
This should be a great game to see with the winner advancing on to play SC.
Also maybe someone from LC could answer my question of how Shepperd is doing?
Shepherd is doing good supposed to go to the doctor to be replaced this weekend, i doubt he will pitch though.

He is doing awesome at the plate though

I don't believe it will be much of a game at all. LC should easily roll past the Tigers. With Howard gone P-ville has dropped 11 out of their last 13 games. Maybe this should open up some eyes. With a tough schedule and no leader in the duggout this season has became a bust. Maybe the next coach will surround himself with some competent help and start fresh. With no pitching next year (besides Jackson) will make for a long season as well.
Shepherd has been released by his doctor. I believe that if he wants to pitch then they will use him in relief some, and him being the competitor he is, I look for him to be on the hill at some point during the district tourney. Look for the flaming fastball in this tourney. :flame:
Shepherd will more than likely have a weekly pitch count to go by then can go full time this summer. What a great thing for Bulldog fans? Shepherd will probably see some time in the field, just in time for district and region

I certainly can understand where you are coming from and respect that opinion in lieu fof the fact that Paintsville has the largest loss stat. in the 15th.( 20). We must however note that Paintsville has a W 3-1 and a L 7-4 against the Dawgs. On the surface this would tend to indicate a pretty good game on Monday. However, when you consider the following one cannot dis agree with you: Conflict, fatigue, fines, marathon practices, benign saturation,nepotism/favortism, and negative strategic decisions. Although I cannot remember a worse Tiger season (help) I can tell you that there is a light in the tunnel on the horizion. Those open eyes must recognize this fact and make good decisions. Otherwise baseball like football and basketball are history at PHS. 2009-10 has certainly been a time to forget in Tiger athletics.I am sure that Paintsville has never been below 500 in all three sports the same season. On the positive side we still have a quality education system and that's what it is all about anyway.
This is im pretty sure the first time we will ever go under .500 in baseball. but in the end 100% of the senior class is going to college so it isnt all a loss. If paintsville ever wants to be succesful in sports again they need to do alot of work mainly the administration needs to keep good coaches and fire bad ones they need to realise that just because a person was a great player in high school that doesnt mean they will be a great coach.
I think it would be really big mistake for Shephard to pitch in the post season. A kid his age, going through the major surgery he did, should not risk going back on the hill this season. He has all summer to slowly progress his pitch count to a comfortable amount by the time fall gets here. There is nothing good that can come from him throwing this season, and at some point you must think of the kid first instead of the team, especially since he has a legitamate shot of getting payed to play this game.

Well I know that he has been cleared to return to action.. I know they have give him a pitch count he has to follow... It would be no different for him now, since he has been throwing off the mound for sometime now.. He has even pitched simulated games.. So as long as he does what the DR has told him he will be fine.

If Howard's "leadership" is what I witnessed that night in early May that lead to his suspension, then I have to question you saying that is what is missing in the dugout. The remaining two coaches have done the best they could with a broken team, and by that I mean broken in spirit. You have to realize that when this group of young men seen the fiasco they say that night it was devistating for them. Most of them thought that their season was over that night, that the school would not let them finish out the remainder of their games. Once they learned they could play on, tension had set in between a few of the players that has made for some very tense times. You cannot make someone want to win, if it isn't there when you pull on the jersey you're already playing against a stacked deck.

My question to you is this: why are you so upset with the remaining staff? Seeing how your son didn't finish out the season due to a basketball injury I believe makes it sound like you have an ax to grind....just my IMO.

Exactly my point, if they havent used him up til now the only reason they would now would be out of greed. This kid would benefit much more by using the summer to get back to 100% instead of rushing him in the post season. The year has already been shot for him, why risk this kids future anymore? Ive seen guys throw off the mound for 4 or 5 months after that surgery and still not be game ready. Throwing in the bullpen is a lot different from throwing in a game situation. Thats great that he has thrown simulated games and thats what he should do the rest of the season, and then slowly get him back on the mound with the pitch count this summer. It's stupid to put him back out there right now when there is only a couple of weeks left in the season, and I hope smarter heads will prevail?

Chandler is getting world class treatment and professional advice on his pitching rehabilitation. The "smarter heads" are prevailing. It has nothing to do with this season. It is about the timing of specific rehab targets.
Chandler has too much long term Potential to even worry about pitching in HS this year. I know Travis will protect him and not take any chances. They are definitely looking D1 and possibly draft material. Good luck and take it slow. I know way too many kids who try and come back too soon, rarely ever works out when they take this route.
Chandler is a really good pitcher but not the only good one on the team. Cody Moore, Sam Burton, Chris Cline, and Tate Banks even all of them can get the job done.

Your exactly right, all of those guys are great pitchers, so why even throw Chandler? They can get the exact same rehabilitation by him throwing simulated games in the bullpens. There are too many things that can go wrong in a game situation at this point in his rehab. There is no reason for him to go on the mound this season and you proved my point by mentioning how great the other pitchers were on the team, Cody is top notch and been throwing in region games for 3 years now.
Chans been seeing one of the top Dr's in the Nation that is a specialist in what he does. I'm pretty sure between the expert, the coaches and his parents they will decide what is best for his future regardless of what Paintsville, Johnson Central and Lawrence Co people think is best in their mind. He's seeing an expert so people around here's opinions don't really mean a whole lot. I personally am very proud of Chan and all the hard work he's put in mentally and physically.
Good luck to the Dawgs tonight. Top 2 teams in the whole Region going at it in the first round I think.
Paintsville

Well thats good to hear he is taking advice from an outside source, seeing how he should have never been in a situation to risk getting hurt in the first place.
All LC fans are anxiously awaiting Chandler's return to the mound, but also care about him and his future. His parents & coaches will follow the experts advice. All involved realize what is at stake here---- a chance to be a MLB pitcher. The Dawgs have Moore, Burton, Cline, and Banks... all of whom are capable of getting the job done.

He pitched in a game that did not matter tonight.

Well looks like the LC staff couldnt resist trying to win a meaningless game and jeapordized a kids future. Parents should have stopped this, I am sure the competitor in Chan wants to get back as soon as possible. But someone has to explain the potential costs vs. the potential rewards for this kid. He has Draft Potential and this game meant nothing.
Well I can admit I was wrong. I really didn't expect Chandler to pitch. Very disappointed fan tonight.

Chandler is a smart kid and I am sure he is just doing what he is told....
