Below are my thoughts after watching a preseason scrimage in the new Corbin Arena.
Pros:
1. All chairback seats. Hopefully, all seats would be reserved for big games.
2. Parking is not perfect but better than area high schools.
3. Easy to get to from I-75, 25E, and 25W.
4. Nice, new, and fresh.
Cons.
1. Not designed for basketball. Seats are a long way from the floor, especially the seats behind the end lines. As the court was arranged Saturday, the seats behind the baskets were useless. They were much too far from the court. The side court seats, though farther away than I would have liked, were OK. Not great, just OK.
2. Consessions are over priced.
I think the seating could be improved by placing the portable court much closer to the enclosed end of the arena, placing a few rows of incline seating on the floor, and placing temporary bleacher seating at the vehicle entrance end of the arena.
Irregardless of where the 13th region tournament is held I would like to see all reserved seating, with the exception of the student cheering sections.
