"And now calling all the action, the Voice of the Mountaneers, Jack Fleming!!!"

"Thank you Woody O'Hara.....

NO ONE could paint a picture like Jack Fleming. NO ONE could set a scene like Jack Fleming. From 1947-1996, Mountaineer fans EVERYWHERE were treated to the voice of the one and only Jack Fleming. Even doing double duty as the voice of the Steelers, every football Saturday we grew up "fine tuning our dials" to get all the "unbiased coverage" of every Mountaineer football game. Even now with Tony Caridi calling the action, this old Mountaineer fan longs for the days of Jack's calls. "As the Hills of West Virginia resound to the sounds of Gold and Blue football and the West Virginia University Mountaineers are on the air!!!!"

Jack's greatest scene setter.

Two of Jack's greatest calls

1988 vs Penn State - Major Harris' broken touchdown run...

1975 vs Pitt - Bill McKenzie's 38 yard field goal at the gun to win 17-14...

And what tribute to Jack would not be complete without "the immaculate reception!!!"

Myself and catwomen may be the only Mountaineer fans here, but there are several Steeler fans that post here. Jack was the voice of the Steelers for many years alongside Myron Cope. He was the voice of 4 winning Steeler Super Bowl wins. Besides, it is Pitt week for us Mountainer faithful. Even though Jack was the voice of the Steelers, he hated the Pitt Panthers.
