The U.S. House has passed its health-care reform bill by a 220-215 vote.
Close vote.
The 2,000-page bill, combining three different versions drafted by different House committees, would cost $1.1 trillion over next 10 years, and extend insurance coverage to 36 million Americans currently without health insurance.

The reform bill would lead to the biggest policy changes in the $2.5-trillion healthcare system since the US government established the Medicare, a social health insurance program for the elderly, in 1965.
220-215 wow. To hear Obama and Pelosi talk about it, you would think it would've been closer to 435-0.

2000 pages long? As Ron Paul said about NAFTA... If any bill with such a simple purpose takes more than a few pages, then obviously it has a hidden agenda, and too many visible loopholes and giveaways for me to ever vote in favor of it.

The great thing about this is, this version of the bill will NEVER pass the senate. And I'm nearly positive that the reconcialiation bill that will be hammered out between the two down the road won't pass the House. This will effectively kill the bill.

Thus far, Pelosi has been the worst speaker to ever hold the post. The speaker and majority leader should be able to get every single member of their party to follow them, and threaten/hand-down punishments to those who do not. They are leaders for a reason, and this Congress has failed miserably with this idea.

The revolution is now.

The south will rise again. (no, i'm not a racist. but I do believe in the fiscal principles of the dixiecrats, conservatives, kkk, constitution party, goldwater/reagan republicans, some blue dogs, and even true liberals such as Feingold..) That said, lets the debate on HealthCare Reform truly begin.. NOW.
Write those letters now; call your friends and them to write them. If you don’t, this program I promise you, will pass just as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow, and behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country. Until, one day, as Normal Thomas said we will awake to find that we have socialism. And if you don’t do this and if I don’t do it, one of these days we are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children, what it once was like in America when men were free. Ronald Reagan
Kentucky votes :

Democrats----- Chandler, NO; Yarmuth, YES

Republicans---- Davis, NO; Guthie, NO; Rogers, NO; Whitfield, NO

Anyone voting for this monstrosity should be forced to partipate !

Anyone who voted for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House should be forced to participate. Chandler was allowed to vote "No" because his vote was not needed. He voted "Yes" for Pelosi and he needs to be tossed out of Congress, along with every other 'Rat who voted to put this tyrant into power.

"We've got to hold on to hope, and we've got to fight hard because Congressional action tonight just put America on a path toward an unrecognizable country."

"This out of control bureaucratic mess will be disastrous for our economy, our small businesses, and our personal liberty. It will slam businesses at a time when we are at double-digit unemployment rates - the highest we'ne seen in a quarter of a century. This massive new bureaucracy will cost us and our children money we don't have. It will rob Americans of more of our freedom and further hamper the free market."

Quotes from Sarah Palin's response to the passing of the Pelosi power grab.

Sarah Palin is the NEXT Ronald Reagan!

I wonder how this administration came up with 36 million, a few months ago Barry claimed his plan would cover 47 million uninsured, then 2 days later he said it would cover 30 million, so some how they dropped 17 million people. Now they say it will cover 36 million, I wonder how they can operate a plan of this size when they have no clue how many people they can or will cover.
I have to wonder if this is really true or not, but according to the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation report, that in the House version, those that don't buy health insurance and do not pay the fine of 2.5% of their income can face up to a penalty of up to 5 years in jail.

You forgot to mention the fine of up to $250,000 on top of the maximum 5-year jail term. The federal government cannot constitutionally compel a person to purchase medical insurance coverage but this administration is determined to overcome that challenge.

I'm guessing that the administration wants to use the $250k to pay for healthcare and housing during the 5 years spent in prison.

Seriously, if a person cannot afford to pay for health coverage or even a 2.5% fine, that this administration actually thinks that they will be able to pay $250,000, what we have here is the inmates running the insane asylum.

I mean no offense to anyone who is or has been in a insane asylum.
"Nancy Pelosi worst Speaker of the House ever."
"Inmates of an insane asylum pass healthcare reform."

Nah, you guys ain't homeys. Just good ol' boys bringing back the economic plans of the KKK to the good ol' white and southern USA. George and Lorleen Wallace come home.

What an offensive, disgusting post. The Obama deck has very few cards, one of them being the race card. In this case, it was not played very well. You can see your vision of a socialist utopia slipping away, so suddenly mainstream Americans are Klan members. How long did it take you to come up with that debating point? :lmao:

Did you read Congressman's earlier post in this thread, in which the KKK was referenced? You suggest "vision of a socialist utopia." I believe in no such thing. I asked a few (3) pharmacists about Medicare Part D. It has its good points and bad points, etc. Finally, I asked this: "Ultimately, would you say that, bottom line, Part D favors the individual or the corporate interest." Two independents, one democrat, each said, "Oh, without question, it favors the corporate interest...with certain exceptions, they wrote the bill." You know the word "socialism," Mr. Gibson, what do you call a system that always tends to favor the corporate interest?

Again, did you read Congressman's post referencing the KKK? Agreement/ disagreement with the Obama administration does not mean one is racist. However, a poster referenced the KKK on this thread. The plan, as written, will undergo lots of changes in the Senate, where legislation goes to cool. It's part of the legislative process...the House is more reactionary, the Senate more deliberative. Again, I do not think you are a racist, but the KKK was referenced in an earlier post.

A system that favors corporate interests is called capitalism, which not coincidentally is the most efficient system ever devised to deliver goods and services to human beings - including health care.
So we are going to make insurance companies cover preexisting conditions? That's like being able to buy life insurance after you're dead! Everyone's healthcare bill is going to go through the roof!

It ends up in oligarchy. If you favor a system where silver and gold are valued above human decency and justice, that's your ride. The idea that if you serve the interests of the rich that, naturally, the interests of the middle and low are enhanced discounts a little thing called avarice, a vice so endemic to human nature its one of the seven.

What I favor is individual and economic liberty that allows all of its citizens an opportunity at prosperity and happiness based on individual initiative and God-given ability. Capitalism, paired with a Constitution that has been respected and revered by a civilian government until recently, have helped make this the greatest country on the face of the earth.

It is time for liberals to face facts. Marxism, socialism, and fascism have all been given a fair shot to succeed and all have failed miserably in delivering the quality of life that we Americans often take for granted.

If we follow Obama, Reid, and Pelosi down the road toward socialism, millions of Americans will discover what real misery is. The attempt by liberals to nationalize health care is not the first step on the path to socialism but it would be a big one.

Fortunately, the nationalization of health care in this country is a longshot at best. Democrats are beginning to panic as polls show that their socialist actions are painting them into a corner. A political bloodbath awaits Democratic incumbents next year.
thecavemaster Wrote:Did you read Congressman's earlier post in this thread, in which the KKK was referenced?

I'll continue to reference the KKK in future posts when explaining my political beliefs. You should also be willing to reference The Communist Party of America in yours. There is no shame in sharing beliefs with a group or individual that you disagree with on other issues. We are individuals, and capable to agreeing that some things just make sense.

Below is the KKK Platform, and in bold, are the ones I agree with.

The Knights ' Party Platform

The recognition that America was founded as a Christian nation.

The recognition that America was founded as a White nation.

Repeal the NAFTA and GATT treaties.

Put America FIRST in all foreign matters

Stop all Foreign Aid Immediately

Cut off trade with countries that refuse to establish strict environmental laws.

Abolish ALL discriminatory affirmative action programs

Put American troops on our border to STOP the flood of illegal aliens

Abolish all anti-gun laws and encourage every adult to own a weapon

Actively promote love and appreciation of our unique European (White) culture

Outlaw the purchase of American property and industry by foreign corporations and investors.

Drug testing for welfare recipients

Repeal the Federal Reserve Act.

Balance the budget

Rehabilitate our public school system.

A flat income tax should be introduced to allow for the funding of community, state and federal projects.

Abortion should be outlawed except to save the mother's life or in case of rape or incest.

We support the death penalty for those convicted of molestation and rape

We support a national law against the practice of homosexuality

We support the placing of all persons HIV positive into national hospitals

Restoring individual freedom to Christian America.

We support the voluntary repatriation of everyone not satisfied with living under White Christian rules of conduct back to the native lands of their people

Everyone who can work should work

We support a return to parental authority without government interference in the raising of our children

We respect the right of homeowners and that no one should ever be forced from their home for the non payment of taxes

We support state sovereignty resolutions

We advocate a strong defense department to safeguard American citizens

We support all U.S. veterans

Now, here are the 10 points listed in the Communist Manifesto:

1. Abolition of private property.

2. Heavy progressive income tax.

3. Abolition to all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of property of all emigrants & rebels.

5. A Central bank.

6. Government control of communications & transportation.

7. Government ownership of factories & agriculture.

8. Government control of labor.

9. Corporate farms, & regional planning.

10. Free education for all children in government controlled schools.

We have many of the above. Controls on labor, regional planning (tax zones, industry specific), free education in goverment controlled schools, gov control of communication and transportation, a 'central bank', goverment owned and government ran corporations (including heavy regulations of agriculture), a heavily progressive tax (once hit 90+%, today's rates top 40-50% for some) , inheritance controlled by 'death taxes'...

So which do you support? Don't like the balanced budget? or America first policy?

Once again, people love to talk about what they don't know... and find that fear of what they don't understand, is easier than simply learning about it. CM, you got a ways to go before you get a little respect from people... and you'll never influence someone with your style of deception. :flame:

It is amazing to me that we (the citizens of the U.S.) have to have insurance if we want it or not, or be fined 2.5% of our income and if we don't do either we can be sent to jail for up to 5 years and pay up to a $250,000 fine. This brings up another question. What about the millions of illegals that are in this country now, will these people have to pay for health care, will they face the same penalties as the citizens of this country? Will they have to serve jail time or be fined if they don't have insurance, I think we all know that the answer is no, they will still receive free health care.

If this health care plan is so important and is a necessity as Obama claims it is to turn around the economy not set to take effect until 2013 which is just after the next election?

I agree with most of the ones you highlighted, however I would add the ones highlighted in red and remove the ones in blue.

Put American troops on our border to STOP the flood of illegal aliens. I believe this is a very important issue that needs to be addressed now for the security of America.

Abortion should be outlawed except to save the mother's life or in case of rape or incest. Abortion is murder plain and simple.

Stop all Foreign Aid Immediately. I can see cutting Aid back or temporarily suspending until our economy is back on it's feet, but we should take care of our own first.

We respect the right of homeowners and that no one should ever be forced from their home for the non payment of taxes. I believe we should all pay our taxes, but I also think there should be some form of punishment other than forcing one out of their home.

I would stop Foreign Aid to any country that preaches hatred of America. Israel would get whatever the heck they wanted! Agree with your other changes.

Perhaps an appropriate punishment for non-payment of taxes would be to spend an evening with Queen Pelosi. :yikes:

I know it is in a smaller scale but I know at least 4 colleges in Kentucky that requires EVERY student to have health insurance. I know one colleges insurance is about $300 per semester/year, not sure which.

I support absolute abolishment of abortion. It should have been highlighted. The 'exceptions' listed, would have been though. I would not support abortion in the case of rape, even by a father against his 12 y/o daughter. If abortion is murder, then its murder always. I can not and will not support any other idea.

I do not support troops on the border unless we are invaded by an enemy.
