Senior running back Andy Roenker led Holy Cross with 85 yards rushing and two touchdowns as the host Indians jumped out to a 36-0 lead.


Markel Walker rushed for 107 yards on just nine rush attempts. The senior quarterback also threw for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Bellevue's Ricky Buckler carried the ball 21 times for 177 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown run.

Cov. Holy Cross 36, Bellevue 20: The host Indians had impressive performances from several individuals in their season opener. Andy Roenker, a senior running back, had two touchdowns and 85 yards on 13 carries.

Brayson Smith ran for two touchdowns and 66 yards. He also scored on a two-point conversion for the Indians, who rushed out to a 22-0 first half lead.

Quarterback Markel Walker rushed for 107 yards and passed for 71 more.

For Bellevue, Ricky Butler ran 21 times for 177 yards.

This was to be expected...Bellevue isn't very good this year and HC is a legit 2A team up here in nky.

expected to finish 2nd behind Beechwood in their district. Bellevue is a quality team. That being said Holy Cross is a better team as this game showed. Holy Cross should make a run at it, if they can get the NewCath monkey off their back.hh:

Bellevue plays in a very weak district. Outside of Beechwood, the rest of the teams are year in and year out some of the worst in nky.
