Well just as I expected my car insurance skyrocketed so when I get better and I get another car I have to get a job because I'm responsible for paying my car insurance. Where is somewhere a 17 year old can work in the Pikeville/Prestonsburg area...I prefer Prestonsburg so if I get caught in snow or bad weather I can go to my aunt's or if I have to work late. If you all know of any places where I could get an afterschool job please post them...I don't care where it is...I've already decided if I can't find anything except fast food I'd rather work at Wendy's...lol...but if you all know ANY places that would hire me PLEASE let me know!!!!
I know a guy that is Superintendent of a prep plant. But you would have to get your surface card. He is the camp host a Dewey Lake. Great guy. Would probably help you out. Hard work but good pay.
ACS in Pikeville is hiring... not sure about Prestonsburg, I can check around.. you could go to the unemployment office to see also

It is a certification you have to have to work around a Surface coal operation. Very easy test given by the Department of Mines and Mineral. It would have to be a second shift job, correct? I would say around $8 to $10/hour. Thats what we usually paid when I would hire for an outside job. I just noticed you said you were 17, how long before your 18. You have to be 18 to work in or around a coal operation.
Most of the area coal companies help younger people with jobs while they are in school. Just something to think about.
We use to hire kids (no offense, I'm getting old) all the time when they were 18 and 19 for underground positions. I would train them and off they went making $$$$$$. Some were making up to $18/hour.

What about Food City? Our local Food City hires high school kids all the time.
My dad works at the new Food City in Prestonsburg so I can't work at that one but he could possibly help me out with one at the old one which would be fine by me.

LOL....I'll end up working in Prestonsburg...Mom is going to pay my insurance for January and Febuary and after my birthday I gotta get a job so maybe Wal Mart...lol...plus I'm more than likely going to PCC next year so I might as well go ahead and get a job in Prestonsburg that way I don't have to switch jobs.
