BOYS’ FIRST TEAM

BOYS’ ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
Robbie Scharold, Campbell County
The junior won the Class 3A state
title in the 800 meters, setting a
Northern Kentucky record. He also
finished second in the 1,600. For the
season, Scharold ran the area’s fastest
time in the 400, 800 and 1,600.

BOYS’ COACH OF THE YEAR
Joshua McCoy,
Covington Catholic
He led the Colonels to the 2A
state team title.


Blake Askin, Scott
The senior finished sixth at the 3A
state meet in the 3,200.

Ben Bessler, St. Henry
The junior defended his 1A state high
jump title. He also recorded the area’s
top high jump performance (6-6).

Alex Connelly,
Covington Catholic
The sophomore won the 2A state title
in the high jump.

Paul Cusick,
Covington Catholic
The junior placed third at the 2A state
meet in both the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Bud Fancher,
Conner
The senior took second place in the
high jump at the 3A state meet.

Logan Ferrara,
Newport Central Catholic
The senior had the area’s top times in
the 100 and 200 and took seventh in
the 100 at the 1A state meet.

Nick Hushebeck,
Covington Catholic
The senior finished third in the 2A
state long jump.

Drew Long, Campbell County
The senior was the area’s best pole
vaulter, taking fourth at the 3A state
meet.

Jacob McIntyre, Walton-Verona
The junior finished third at the 1A
state meet in the 3,200 and took fourth
in the 1,600.

Corey Stoll, Villa Madonna
The senior won 1A state titles in the
800 and 1,600. He finished second in
the 3,200.
