lickbranchlegend Wrote:Lol. That is the only answer I've heard from everybody I talk to.

Hey legend, where the heck is lickbranch and what are you legendary for?
PCBaseball Wrote:Yes, his dad is a great baseball man and can really teach the game and I agree with you that any kids up there that want to transfer because of the incompetance and lack of effort put in by the coaches should be ruled eligible immediately and maybe this would get the attention of all the people in positions of leadership in that school system up there that this kind of incompetance is not fair to kids and will not be tolerated. After all, these kids only get four years to play and they deserve the best that can be given to them.

agreed  100%
Lickbranch is in Breathitt Co. and we are legends in our own mind.
If Creech is an 8th grader, he could transfer anywhere next years and be automatically ruled eligible.
fanatic11 Wrote:If Creech is an 8th grader, he could transfer anywhere next years and be automatically ruled eligible.

Yes Creech can go anywhere he wants but the rest of those poor kids have to stay there and put up with that kind of treatment. That's very sad for those kids.

That's great right there:lmao:
PCBaseball Wrote:Yes, I heard today that Creech, Who pulled a hip flexer muscle against Jackson City in the first round of the District, will not be able to pitch in this game. He is also their best all around player by far, so I would say that this will be a blow out. Also, I heard that Wolfe has not even practiced since Thursday and did not even go to the Regional meeting on Friday. I sure feel bad for those kids up there because their coaches are obviously a joke. It is a shame that those kids have to be put in this kind of a situation. What are they paying those coaches for anyway.

Are you sure Creech won't be able to pitch??? I've heard differently.

Wolfe practiced Thursday(badly from what I am told) given Friday off for a couple of reasons. 1. Two of the coaches, who put food on their families tables and roofs over their heads by being teachers, were on field trips. The other coach, who works in Lexington, could not get home until late. 2. Several Wolfe players are banged up quite a bit, it was obvious on Thursday, so the coaches decided to give them Friday off.

I've been out of town all weekend, so I don't know what happened then, but as far as today goes, I guess it was too wet to practice.

As far as the coaches not attending the Friday meeting goes, I believe I have explained a few moments ago why that didn't happen. Of course, I might mention, since you did not, that the meeting was originally scheduled to be held on SUNDAY, but, at the last minute, was changed to Friday. It's a moot point, but all the coaches had intended to be at the Sunday meeting, but simply could not do so in light of the last minute change. A question that should be asked, in light of this, is, "why didn't the AD go to the meeting'?

Also kind of neat to note that you, and a couple of others did not post a single negative thing about Wolfe during their 6 game winning steak to end the season. (More importantly, they were playing pretty well during this streak). A blow-up in the district finals against Breathitt, and a couple of schedule changes that couldn't be helped, and all at once, the fair weather fans are back out in force. You really should worry more about your own team, because if Dakota Ritchie continues to pitch the way he has been lately, your team is not going to beat them. Hint: tell your coach he has a NASTY change up that he has just started using. Kept Wolfe off balance all night!
Strikeout King Wrote:bc there coaches don't have any sense.

Creech's injury has really be a hot subject of debate, hasn't it?

His hip flexor is apparently a minor pull (not a tear) to some muscles in the hip to groin area. The doctors never said Dylan could not play, so the injury could not have been too serious. Besides, his Dad, whom several of you have anointed as being the all knowing baseball guru who could never be wrong, put Dylan through a full work-out before the game to see if he would be able to play. He decided that Dylan was healthy enough, so he allowed the coaches to let him play, which, I guess, is the right a father has over his son. If I thought my son was not healthy enough to play, I would not allow a coach to play him, either. Having said that, if the Wolfe coaches "don't have any sense", and played an injured player, where does that put his Dad, the great baseball man, who gave his approval to let him play?????

To be honest, Dylan's injury is minor, with the big thing being his ability to tolerate pain. If he can do that, he will be fine. Just ask the Sallie kid for Wolfe who has played half the season in a whole bunch of pain with a groin pull. Hurt so bad he could hardly take a step, but never complained, unless the coaches tried to take him out of a game. Heart of a lion, I tell you!

Powell is playing Breathitt NOT Wolfe.

Estill is playing Wolfe.

Wolfe may have Dakota Ritchie but Estill has Drew Freeman. have you seen him play? he can hit the ball, Freeman is one of the TOP & Best hitters in the 14th. Benedict can hit the ball too.

Estill's out of District & Region Wins (@ Pikeville, @ Madison Central, @ Lexington Catholic, @ Paintsville, Madison Soutern TWICE)

if Estill gets going the game will be over in 3-5 innings, bc they are very hard to stop once they get going.

Come Wednesday the ENGINEERS will be ready to play
lickbranchlegend Wrote:I heard a rumor that if the same coaches were back next year then Creech probably wouldn't be. Just a rumor so dont take it for fact.

Let's take a quick history lesson on the Creech kid, and his Dad, who obviously is the one making the decisions, which is his right to do:

2006. Dylan is about to enter the 6th grade. His Dad, not satisfied with the coaching situation at Wolfe County, decides to transfer Dylan to Powell County. Not a bad move on paper, Powell at the time was a power in the 14th Region, and Bryan Dean, a great coach, was still there.

2007. Dylan's Dad, for some reason was apparently not satisfied with the situation at Powell and decides to transfer Dylan to Breathitt County. (Promise of an assistant coaching job, perhaps??????) The seventh grade Creech has a very nice year, and the future looks bright for both him, and Breathitt County.

2008. All is well, or so it seems. Dylan is red-shirted and plays middle school ball only. He is all set to have a big season for Breathitt the next year, AS AN EIGHTH GRADER!!!!!!!!!

2009. For some reason, Creech is transferred once again to Wolfe County, even though the Wolves have the same coaches they had when Dylan was moved out a couple years earlier, which was the reason he was moved out to begin with (starting to sound a little confusing at this point!) Was the assistant coaching job at Breathitt pulled, or was a head coaching job at Wolfe promised????? Politics being what they are in eastern Kentucky, who knows?

2009 and beyond: After hitting over .600 as an eight grader, the rumor mill has Creech on the move again.(School Board situation in a mess, new Super, several new board members, maybe a board member promised the elder Creech a head coaching job is no longer on the board??????) I certainly hope not, as Dylan (has anyone ever asked him what HE wants?????) really appears to want to be a part of SOMETHING. and has a lot of friends here. Looks like a lot of schools want his services, with Powell being the most mentioned, which would be Creech's second go a round there, just like Wolfe.

At some point in time, with the track record of RUNNING from things that are not wanted, someone is going to have to look in the mirror to find out what the true problem is!!!!!!

Opps!!! May have responded to the wrong poster.

FWIW, Wolfe does NOT have Dakota Ritchie, (I wish they did!!!!!!!!!!!)

Thought I was replying to a certain Powell County poster.

At this point, I guess it is time to open mouth, insert foot!

PCBaseball Wrote:I agrre with you it just isn't worth the risk. Don't mess with a young kid's future. I heard he tried to play against Breathitt and just couldn't turn on a pitch when he hit. I would definitely sit him. I understand that trying to pitch or hit is very painful when you have a pulled hip flexer muscle.

Don't worry too much about Creech. From what I heard from a couple of teachers at the middle school, he looked VERY good at the football game played on Friday. Ran like a scared deer, I'm told. Came out of the game with no pain, limping, etc.

Wish I could say the same thing about Jeffrey Whisman, Wolfe County's starting second baseman. Looks like he broke his foot in the football game and is out of the Regional Tournament.
I saw Creech over the weekend, he was visiting his girlfriend that lives here in Powell County and he said that he could run but that he could not pitch and that it was hard to turn on that hip when he tried to hit. He told me that he was going to play but couldn't pitch because the pain was too much to handle when he lifts his leg and comes towards the plate.

Creech was satisfied here at Powell but was offered an opportunity to start varsity at Breathitt and took it and from all I've heard he did very well as a true 7th grader. As for his dad, I have known him for over 25 years, played against him in high school, I spoke to him in the fall and he said that he brought Dylan back to Wolfe this year so that he could go back to college and finish his degree and get a job some where teaching and coaching. As for your comment about Dylan's dad baseball knowledge, I can tell you first hand because my son played for him. He is one of the most knowlegable baseball men thar I have ever met and would immediately be in the top one or two coaches in this region as soon as someone hired him. I don't know if anyone at Wolfe promised him the job or not but if they are smart, they would hire him tommorow. Do you have any clue how far that guy has traveled in this game? One more question that I know the answer to. Who do you think taught Dylan the game. I witnessed it first hand when my son played for him. He is the best teacher of the fundamentals of baseball that I have ever seen and I have seen a bunch.
I spoke to Creech's dad today and it is a 100% guarantee, he can't pitch due to the pulled muscle. He said that every time Dylan lifted that leg in a pitching motion it was just too painful. So, he will not pitch on Wednesday for sure.
Oh yea class of 2001, I have spoke to many of the starters on this team and they are all very upset with coach Potter and many of the parents are as well. And as for missing the drawing on Friday, absolutely inexcuseable, all of these other coaches teach school too. And as for not having practice in four days before the region, you can't explain that away and he should be FIRED on the spot for that alone. Do you know how important timing is when you are trying to hit a baseball? I wish you would start thinking about the kids instead of making excuse for Potter. Who is more important Potter or the kids. I think Potter would survive very well on his and his wife's teaching salary. As for the 6 game winning streak or for that matter the whole season, we have only beat one team with a winning record and without Creech we would not have done anywhere near as good as we have. He has made that much of a difference. I know and you know it as well as everyone else that has watched the team this season and last.

Don't worry about us, we do plenty of scouting and know what Breathitt and Ritchie have to offer.

Creech was satisfied here at Powell but was offered an opportunity to start varsity at Breathitt and took it and from all I've heard he did very well as a true 7th grader.

Offered? Offered?? OFFERED?????????

What schools offer ANYTHING to a seventh grader?????

Is this legal?????

Did dad get an offer to be an assistant?????

We know that one.

Far as I can tell, there are no colleges in Wolfe County, so I don't understand where that would be in play as far as Dylan is concerned.

Mr. Creech might very well be the head coach at Wolfe if a couple of things had not have happened when he was an assistant, who admittedly, ran the whole show back in the late 90's

1. Instances where, in his practices, he made players stand at the plate and be intentionally hit by pitches in order to "toughen 'em up."

2. Ignore a direct order to sit a player as punishment from your AD or super.

The players in question, according to the story you wish to believe, had either been drinking, or flunked tests at school and were ordered to NOT play.

The coaches ignored a direct order and played these players, anyway.

Now, I don't know where you come from, but, where I live, if my boss tells me to do something, and I don't, I will be relieved from my job.

The Wolfe coaches at the time did not comply, and were fired. Plain and simple.

Of course, you will get a different take from Jim on this, he will tell you it was politics, or basketball didn't want to be upstaged, but I'm telling you, having lived here all my life, I know what went on.

You can choose to not believe this, but I have talked to more than a couple of former players of his who SWORE this happened!

And more than a couple of CURRENT players swear that his dad is making a head case out of his son.

The most often phrase I hear out of them is "the man is a f-----ing idiot!"

I promise I am not making this up!

One of two things will happen over the next two years.

1 Dylan will bet tired of listening to the old mans crap and simply quit sports altogether, just like his cousin, Aaron, or,

2. Get tired of the old man's crap, beat the **** out of him to shut him up, and go on and become a great player IN SPITE OF HIM, NOT BECAUSE OF HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am really pulling for the latter to happen!

I know you are lying now because when he helped in the 90's he was a volunteer assistant and at Wolfe and I believe a man named Whisman was the coach so if anyone ignored orders it was the head coach and not a volunteer assistant. My son played for him off and on for 3 years and we were at practice and my son and the rest of the kids were treated great and still have the upmost respect for him. As for your comment about making a head case out of his son, this just shows me what you know about him or his son and the game of baseball. They are always together and according to his son the only f---ing idiot he talked to me about this weekend was your beloved head coach. You are obviously making a bunch of stuff up and have never been to one of his practices. Over the course of 3 summers my son played around 75 games for him and probably had 50 or 60 practices with him and I was at every single game and practice so I know you are lying because if he was as you describe I would have seen it. You are so desperate to defend a guy who is a joke as a high school baseball coach that you would do or say anything and that is sad and you should apologize to Creech and his dad for the comments you made in this post. You ought to be ashamed of these kind of accusations.

Not lying at all from my standpoint. I know what I know because I have lived here all my life,as opposed to you, who either live in Powell County and get your info from someone else, (my bet is it from Jim Creech), are lying in the first place, or live in Wolfe County to begin with.

I am really pulling for the latter to happen!
Number 1 How long have you really known Dylan? Since my son played with him for the better part of 3 summers, I know him probably alot better than you do. He, himself will tell you as he has told me on several occasions that hid dad has taught him everything he knows about the game of baseball and over the course of that 3 years, I watched his dad build that beautiful swing of his. I'm sure that sometimes Dylan may get upset at him just like my son does with me. When they get to be teenagers they think they know it all. My son is sixteen and tends to rebel from time to time. This is normal. For you to say that his dad could not teach crap is just rediculous. My son is a much much better ballplayer because of the time he spent with Jim. The only thing that I can figure that has got you so riled up is that you are either the head coach at wolfe or the assistant. In any case, whoever you are, I am sure you didn't teach Dylan how to play the game and you were probably no where around when his dad did so now you want to run his father down. I don't know who you ar, but I sure wouldn't allow you to coach my son if this is the way you talk about their fathers. All of this because people get on here and voice their opinions about the fact that according to Coach Varney here at Powell, who is also a teacher, said that all of the other schools that made it to the region was at the drawing except for Wolfe, and that I heard from 4 of your current players that there has been no practice since Thursday with the region coming up. Are the players lying? If not, then no one in their right mind can justify the actions of the coaches up there and attacking the father of one of your players is not the proper way to try to do it. We have practiced every single day to get ready for the region. Our kids deserve it and so does every other child and that is all I am saying and if you were the kind of man that you should be you would agree with me on this. That is why I believe you are the head coach or one of the assistants or else you would not be trying so hard to defend the actions of the coach up there. Anyone who knows anything at all about baseball knows you can't take that many days off and be ready to play or have your timing to hit like you should. Stop tyring to defend the coach so hard and start thinking about the kids. That is, if you care at all about the kids.

Let's get our cards on the table. I know Coach Whisman well and have played golf with him on many occasions and the story I got was from him and not from Creech. Mr. Whisman said that he wanted Creech to run practice as far as the teaching of the game, but that he made the decisions as to who played. Creech would advise him, but he would make the final decision. He said that Creech did what he ask him to do without exception. So, the story you are telling is false and that is straight from Mr. Whisman's mouth. I have never had a conversation with Creech about this at all. Mr. Whisman says he was never given a reason for his dismissal. Futhermore, we are pretty good golfing buddies so if you would like to meet with us and hear it for yourself I am sure Ernie would be more than happy to do so. Face it. You are lying and you know it.
PCBaseball Wrote:Number 1 How long have you really known Dylan?
I could not agree more, and the reason he is doing this is because he is probably the lead assistant {Johnny Rose} who I played for and he will defend Coach Potter no matter what he has to say to do it. This shows how much they care about the kids. This is the lowest of lows to say stuff like this about a kid's dad. PATHETIC
Strikeout King Wrote:ok is this thread about Estill vs. Wolfe or is it about Creech, Creech's dad and coaches??? bc i thought it was about Estill & Wolfe
It is, I think we just have a very sensitive coach on here that can't stand a little constructive critisizm and is taking it out on one of his players parents. Estill will kill Wolfe easily on wednesday and I believe we should handle Breathitt pretty easy today.

Estill will destroy wolfe easily. nothing bad about Hazard but they gave the bulldogs a cakewalk to the finals! you all will more than likely get pass Breathitt
Estill should win this one easy

Nope. Good guess. Please try again.

There is a hint to my username.

And I WILL stand by what I have posted. Graduated with the player who was ordered to stand in the box and get hit. Heard him tell this story on more than one occasion.

And players WERE used that the high school ordered the coaches to not play because of some sort of violation. Fact. It happened. I was there. Were you? Well, of course not, because you claim that you played four years for Mr. Potter!
