PCBaseball Wrote:Yes, his dad is a great baseball man and can really teach the game and I agree with you that any kids up there that want to transfer because of the incompetance and lack of effort put in by the coaches should be ruled eligible immediately and maybe this would get the attention of all the people in positions of leadership in that school system up there that this kind of incompetance is not fair to kids and will not be tolerated. After all, these kids only get four years to play and they deserve the best that can be given to them.
fanatic11 Wrote:If Creech is an 8th grader, he could transfer anywhere next years and be automatically ruled eligible.
lickbranchlegend Wrote:Lickbranch is in Breathitt Co. and we are legends in our own mind.
PCBaseball Wrote:Yes, I heard today that Creech, Who pulled a hip flexer muscle against Jackson City in the first round of the District, will not be able to pitch in this game. He is also their best all around player by far, so I would say that this will be a blow out. Also, I heard that Wolfe has not even practiced since Thursday and did not even go to the Regional meeting on Friday. I sure feel bad for those kids up there because their coaches are obviously a joke. It is a shame that those kids have to be put in this kind of a situation. What are they paying those coaches for anyway.
Strikeout King Wrote:bc there coaches don't have any sense.
class of 2001 Wrote:Are you sure Creech won't be able to pitch??? I've heard differently.
Wolfe practiced Thursday(badly from what I am told) given Friday off for a couple of reasons. 1. Two of the coaches, who put food on their families tables and roofs over their heads by being teachers, were on field trips. The other coach, who works in Lexington, could not get home until late. 2. Several Wolfe players are banged up quite a bit, it was obvious on Thursday, so the coaches decided to give them Friday off.
I've been out of town all weekend, so I don't know what happened then, but as far as today goes, I guess it was too wet to practice.
As far as the coaches not attending the Friday meeting goes, I believe I have explained a few moments ago why that didn't happen. Of course, I might mention, since you did not, that the meeting was originally scheduled to be held on SUNDAY, but, at the last minute, was changed to Friday. It's a moot point, but all the coaches had intended to be at the Sunday meeting, but simply could not do so in light of the last minute change. A question that should be asked, in light of this, is, "why didn't the AD go to the meeting'?
Also kind of neat to note that you, and a couple of others did not post a single negative thing about Wolfe during their 6 game winning steak to end the season. (More importantly, they were playing pretty well during this streak). A blow-up in the district finals against Breathitt, and a couple of schedule changes that couldn't be helped, and all at once, the fair weather fans are back out in force. You really should worry more about your own team, because if Dakota Ritchie continues to pitch the way he has been lately, your team is not going to beat them. Hint: tell your coach he has a NASTY change up that he has just started using. Kept Wolfe off balance all night!
lickbranchlegend Wrote:I heard a rumor that if the same coaches were back next year then Creech probably wouldn't be. Just a rumor so dont take it for fact.

Estill is playing Wolfe.
Wolfe may have Dakota Ritchie but Estill has Drew Freeman. have you seen him play? he can hit the ball, Freeman is one of the TOP & Best hitters in the 14th. Benedict can hit the ball too.
Estill's out of District & Region Wins (@ Pikeville, @ Madison Central, @ Lexington Catholic, @ Paintsville, Madison Soutern TWICE)
if Estill gets going the game will be over in 3-5 innings, bc they are very hard to stop once they get going.
Come Wednesday the ENGINEERS will be ready to play

As for his dad, I have known him for over 25 years, played against him in high school, I spoke to him in the fall and he said that he brought Dylan back to Wolfe this year so that he could go back to college and finish his degree and get a job some where teaching and coaching. As for your comment about Dylan's dad baseball knowledge, I can tell you first hand because my son played for him. He is one of the most knowlegable baseball men thar I have ever met and would immediately be in the top one or two coaches in this region as soon as someone hired him. I don't know if anyone at Wolfe promised him the job or not but if they are smart, they would hire him tommorow. Do you have any clue how far that guy has traveled in this game? One more question that I know the answer to. Who do you think taught Dylan the game. I witnessed it first hand when my son played for him. He is the best teacher of the fundamentals of baseball that I have ever seen and I have seen a bunch.
2006. Dylan is about to enter the 6th grade. His Dad, not satisfied with the coaching situation at Wolfe County, decides to transfer Dylan to Powell County. Not a bad move on paper, Powell at the time was a power in the 14th Region, and Bryan Dean, a great coach, was still there.
2007. Dylan's Dad, for some reason was apparently not satisfied with the situation at Powell and decides to transfer Dylan to Breathitt County. (Promise of an assistant coaching job, perhaps??????) The seventh grade Creech has a very nice year, and the future looks bright for both him, and Breathitt County.
2008. All is well, or so it seems. Dylan is red-shirted and plays middle school ball only. He is all set to have a big season for Breathitt the next year, AS AN EIGHTH GRADER!!!!!!!!!
2009. For some reason, Creech is transferred once again to Wolfe County, even though the Wolves have the same coaches they had when Dylan was moved out a couple years earlier, which was the reason he was moved out to begin with (starting to sound a little confusing at this point!) Was the assistant coaching job at Breathitt pulled, or was a head coaching job at Wolfe promised????? Politics being what they are in eastern Kentucky, who knows?
2009 and beyond: After hitting over .600 as an eight grader, the rumor mill has Creech on the move again.(School Board situation in a mess, new Super, several new board members, maybe a board member promised the elder Creech a head coaching job is no longer on the board??????) I certainly hope not, as Dylan (has anyone ever asked him what HE wants?????) really appears to want to be a part of SOMETHING. and has a lot of friends here. Looks like a lot of schools want his services, with Powell being the most mentioned, which would be Creech's second go a round there, just like Wolfe.
At some point in time, with the track record of RUNNING from things that are not wanted, someone is going to have to look in the mirror to find out what the true problem is!!!!!!
class of 2001 Wrote:Are you sure Creech won't be able to pitch??? I've heard differently.Don't worry about us, we do plenty of scouting and know what Breathitt and Ritchie have to offer.

Creech was satisfied here at Powell but was offered an opportunity to start varsity at Breathitt and took it and from all I've heard he did very well as a true 7th grader.
Offered? Offered?? OFFERED?????????
What schools offer ANYTHING to a seventh grader?????
Is this legal?????
Did dad get an offer to be an assistant?????
We know that one.
Far as I can tell, there are no colleges in Wolfe County, so I don't understand where that would be in play as far as Dylan is concerned.
Mr. Creech might very well be the head coach at Wolfe if a couple of things had not have happened when he was an assistant, who admittedly, ran the whole show back in the late 90's
1. Instances where, in his practices, he made players stand at the plate and be intentionally hit by pitches in order to "toughen 'em up."
2. Ignore a direct order to sit a player as punishment from your AD or super.
The players in question, according to the story you wish to believe, had either been drinking, or flunked tests at school and were ordered to NOT play.
The coaches ignored a direct order and played these players, anyway.
Now, I don't know where you come from, but, where I live, if my boss tells me to do something, and I don't, I will be relieved from my job.
The Wolfe coaches at the time did not comply, and were fired. Plain and simple.
Of course, you will get a different take from Jim on this, he will tell you it was politics, or basketball didn't want to be upstaged, but I'm telling you, having lived here all my life, I know what went on.
You can choose to not believe this, but I have talked to more than a couple of former players of his who SWORE this happened!
And more than a couple of CURRENT players swear that his dad is making a head case out of his son.
The most often phrase I hear out of them is "the man is a f-----ing idiot!"
I promise I am not making this up!

His own kid fights with him all the time.
I guess he gets tired of hearing how the old man "taught him everything he knows."
As if he is too stupid to learn things on his own.
One of two things will happen over the next two years.
1 Dylan will bet tired of listening to the old mans crap and simply quit sports altogether, just like his cousin, Aaron, or,
2. Get tired of the old man's crap, beat the **** out of him to shut him up, and go on and become a great player IN SPITE OF HIM, NOT BECAUSE OF HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really pulling for the latter to happen!

I know Coach Whisman well and have played golf with him on many occasions and the story I got was from him and not from Creech. Mr. Whisman said that he wanted Creech to run practice as far as the teaching of the game, but that he made the decisions as to who played. Creech would advise him, but he would make the final decision. He said that Creech did what he ask him to do without exception. So, the story you are telling is false and that is straight from Mr. Whisman's mouth. I have never had a conversation with Creech about this at all. Mr. Whisman says he was never given a reason for his dismissal. Futhermore, we are pretty good golfing buddies so if you would like to meet with us and hear it for yourself I am sure Ernie would be more than happy to do so. Face it. You are lying and you know it.
Let's dispose of names and games at this point and show our cards and reveal what we know at this point.
Ernie Whisman was the head coach at this time (great guy, I really think he is a wonderful person). Jim Creech was the assistant. Ask him, he is not shy, he will admit that HE was the one running the show. Won a lot of games. Didn't play by the rules. Paid the price. Case closed.
I know this happened. Of course, you will not believe me. I know it is the truth. I was there when it happened. You were not. You only have Jim's disputed version to back your story up.
Really sad.
