The Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers Monday night by a score of 7-6.
Reds starter Edinson Volquez had his second straight rought start, giving up a 3-run homer in the second inning for an early 5-1 lead for the Brewers. With Milwaukee's best pitcher Yovani Gallardo on the mound, it looked like this game was over early.
But the Reds weren't dead yet. With the help of a couple walks and a hit batter, the Reds put 6 runs on the board in the third inning, capped off by an Edwin Encarnacion grand slam.
From that point, Reds pitchers played with fire all night long, but never relinquished the lead. Volquez somehow escaped a bases loaded, none-out jam in the fourth, David Weathers left the bases loaded again in the eighth, and Francisco Cordero stranded the tying run at second in the ninth.
Reds even their record at 3-3.
