CYNTHIANA , Ky. - It appeared as if recent history was going to repeat itself for the Scott girls' basketball team against Maysville St. Patrick in Tuesday's 10th Region tournament first-round game.

Instead, it was a couple of seniors who stepped up at just the right time to help the Eagles hold on for a 71-63 victory at Harrison County.

Scott (10-19), which advanced to the 10th Region semifinals for the first time in school history and is two wins away from the first girls' regional title in school history (the Eagles were Ninth Region runners-up twice), advances to play George Rogers Clark (17-9) in a semifinal game at 8:15 p.m. Thursday.

George Rogers Clark beat Harrison County 63-47 in Tuesday's other first-round game.

Scott blew an eight-point fourth-quarter lead in a 66-61 regular-season loss to St. Patrick (20-6) on Jan. 31. It appeared as if the same thing was going to happen Tuesday.

The Eagles seemingly put Tuesday's game away when sophomore center Lauren Tibbs followed her own missed front end of the bonus with a short jumper in the lane for a 64-51 lead with 3:51 left.

St. Patrick rallied to cut the lead to 64-58 before senior guard Shelbi Benzinger hit a contested 12-footer from the right wing for a 66-58 Scott advantage.

The Saints, who tried to take the ball at the 6-foot-4 Tibbs all night with limited success, got a conventional three-point play from junior center Anne Klee, who made a layup and drew Tibbs' fourth foul to cut the margin to 66-63 with 2:18 left.

After a 10-second violation against Scott, Tibbs blocked Klee's shot in the lane - her seventh block of the night........
Congrats Scott.
