The Dixie Heights boys' basketball team earned a tough victory at home Thursday, defeating Newport 65-62.
After the Wildcats cut the lead, the Colonels made it to the free throw line and hit some key shots down the stretch to secure the win.
Junior center Wes Smith scored a career-high 16 points as Dixie Heights evened its record at 7-7.
David Darnell scored a game-high 19 points for Newport (6-9).
