Three people have been charged as the result of a disturbance that halted Friday night’s Fulton City vs. Fulton County (Ky.) boys’ basketball game at Fulton High School. Fulton Police Chief Terry Powell said the incident apparently started between two players and escalated to a disturbance involving the crowd — resulting in Fulton police calling for assistance from other local law enforcement agencies in an effort to restore order. “Responding officers soon restored stability to the school function and safely dispersed the crowd,” according to a press release from the Fulton Police Department. Officers from the Fulton Po-lice Department were joined by those from the Kentucky State Police, South Fulton Police Department, Fulton County (Ky.) Sheriff’s Department and the Hickman County (Ky.) Sheriff’s Department in order to “restore civil order to the crowd at the Fulton City-Fulton County basketball game,” the press release stated. One arrest was made at the scene Friday night and warrants were obtained for two other suspects who have since been charged, according to Powell. Marissa Joy of Fulton was arrested at the scene Friday night and charged with disorderly conduct. Later arrested on warrants were Tony S. Udley Jr. of Hickman, Ky., who was charged with inciting a riot and disorderly conduct, and Kiara N. Bogan of Hickman, who was charged with inciting a riot and fourth-degree assault, according to the press release. Powell said the use of camera footage taken by those attending the game was helpful in police determining suspects in the incident and filing charges against them. He added that sporting events are a time for spectators to have fun and enjoy themselves, rather than a time for disorderly conduct. He said anyone who acts in a disruptive manner in Fulton will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. “We will not tolerate any of these types of actions on school grounds or anywhere within the city,” he said. Powell said he was not aware of any injuries that resulted from Friday night’s incident. The boys’ basketball game was postponed and no official word of its being rescheduled had yet been received from school officials at press time today.
