Senior Paige Bowling hit a jumper in the lane with 45 seconds to play to put Campbell County ahead and later hit a free throw to secure the lead for the Camels as they defeated Scott 57-53 in a girls' basketball game Tuesday.


The Eagles, who were 5-of-12 from the foul line, missed three free throws in the game's final 16 seconds.

Campbell County and Scott are tied for eighth in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky coaches' poll.

Bowling led Campbell County with 25 points. Scott sophomore center Lauren Tibbs led all scorers with 31 points.

The game featured two individual milestones. Tibbs, who is two points shy of 1,000, collected her 600th career rebound. Campbell County senior Katie Kitchen scored her 1,000th point in the first half and had 20 in the game.

The victory keeps the Camels atop the 37th District rankings with a 2-0 record.

Congratulations to Katie Kitchen on her 1,000th point. She has had a fantastic Basketball career. Add that to her 100m relay gold medal from track and she has had two amazging accomplishments in her last two years.
