This is Coopers first year as a High School. They have no Seniors with any experience that came from either of the three schools that were pulled from to make this School. Boone Co. HS, Conner HS and Ryle HS are where these kids came from. It's not likely that they will find success intil they have a Freshman class reach their senior year.
With this being Coopers first year, they have to play their district games (Boone, Ryle, Conner) but they should have scheduled some of the smaller schools in NKY their first couple of years.

Some of their non-district games are against, Cov. Cath, Newport Cath, Holmes, Scott, Dixie, Highlands, and Campbell Co. Tough schedule for any experienced team or any school that's been around for years.

Good luck Cooper! Hang in there!

Many in NKY have made that same argument. What we all learned after the fact was that Cooper could not get games with smaller school without having to travel. Obviously that was not feasible for a new school based on their budget. For some unknown reason, they did not hire an AD until this past summer. Schedules were already made. It was difficult for them to get a full schedule of games period. Of course the bigger schools were willing to make room, but based on their success against the smaller schools, which has been as bad, they could have had an entire schedule of single A schools and still struggled, or likley had the same reocrd as they currently do.

May not have made much of a difference this year but next year with one year under their belt Cooper may have faired better than playing the same teams next year also. Usually games are scheduled with a contract for at least two years. one home and one away.

I bet the AD wished he had some input in the scheduling.
So how did they take kids out of Boone, Ryle and Conner? Did they draw new district lines or what? This was obviously expansion rather than consolidation.

As to their basketball program, they'll get their turn. Just takes time with a new school. They might as well play the better and bigger schools now, because they would have to play them soon enough anyway. Besides, those little single A schools in NKY are tough to beat. Not sure a purely single A schedule would help much. lol

Yes, it was due to significant growth in Boone Co. The cut across all the former district lines. If you saw a map of it, it would make better sense.

I agree with your point about playing the bigger schools. Cooper is a 6A school when it comes to size wise. They played all the 6A schools in Football and were beat by an average of 40 points. Basketball has gotten off to a similar start, and one would expect their Baseball team to do the same.

Where they will be able to compete is in individual sports. I have already noticed some first place finishes in swimming. They have a very good golfer who has transefered in which may well bring Cooper a State finalist before he graduates.
