The Harlan countian girl Russell I believe played for Cumberland before the merger.
When she is hot she can shoot the lights out.
but Several times this year I have seen her when frankly when it looked like a shield was over the net and nothing seemed to go down for her at all.
The coach patiently stayed with her kept her in and told her to keep shooting.
It does seem like her coaches technique pays dividends as in this game.
any advise out there to long range shooters who come upon a shooting slump
if you will and coaches are not as understanding or goes to other options more so quickly. Like goes to an inside game or bring in possibly not as good a defensive or offensive player in the lineup. it does seem like more coaches as the Harlan county coasch are building more so towards
tournament time and does so by believing in what he sees in practice and in ones past performance than rather to bench her and possibly more so hurt a players self confidence. You have to respect rick pitinos ways of thinking as long as a player is hustling and making plays on defense he kept them on the floor and as the old analog slang goes "shooters gotta shoot" comes to mind as Rick forgave many questionable shot selections in the early stages of kentuckys rise back on the national scene after the sanctions.
